Low Power Steering Fluid

Hi, I have a 2008 Urban Runner (49K Miles) with low power steering fluid. The manual says to add only ATF Dexron ii or iii. Do I need to add genuine toyota fluids or can I buy another brand? Is Dexron IV compatible if I can't find II or III?

Thanks in advance for your responses

Doesn't have to be OEM Toyota, but use only what is specified (ATF Dexron II or III)

You probably won't find Dexron III anywhere. The current version of the fluid is Dexron VI and it's supposed to be backwards compatible.

You probably want to find out why it's low first.

You can get bottles labelled Dex/Mercon but not Dexron III. I discovered this when I flushed my P/S a month ago.
