My jacks too small
No not that jack!
I just realized, after owning a 4runner for 3 years, that my floor jack will not lift a stock 4runner off the ground. I recently ordered OW's 2.0 CO kit and need to know from the people that have lifts on their 4runners how high of a jack I will need. Will a jack with 21" max height be enough?

Kinda depends on what jack points you're using.
I've got this one and it works fine, even with my lift (although much higher and I might have trouble raising the front).

I normally use the jack points shown in the owners manual.

Im using a craftsman jack w/15" max heights. I picked it up 10 years ago when I drove a sedan. I never had to use it on the 4runner till now. At 15" (using the jack points listed in the owners manual) my 4runner is almost off the ground. With an additional 3" suspension lift I think a 21" heights jack would do it. Is my logic sound/unsound?

Oh ok... yeah, a 15" jack would be tough.
My jack has a 21" max, and it works (as I said). Make sure you've got some good wheel chocks too. You should be fine.

Sounds like a job for THIS GUY:
I keed! I keed!
My 03's jack is old but still does it just fine, AS LONG AS I USE THE PROPER JACK-POINTS AS LABELED IN THE OWNERS MANUAL!

If you're a Costco member, check your local Costco for the Arcan XL35 floor jack. It's hit and miss whether or not they have it. The lift range is 3 1/2" to 21 3/8" and it has a 3 1/2 ton capacity. Depending on the lift point and the kind of work you're doing, this should be more then enough. If you need a little extra lift, then use a 4X4 piece of wood. I picked up two of them at Costco for $79.99 each. They're excellent jacks and perform as well as jacks costing 4-5 times as much. The Costco Arcan's also come with a rubber pad on the saddle.
If you can't find them at Costco then you can get them from Northertool.com Arcan Jack 35XL for $149.99. Since they weigh around 110 lbs., the shipping will probably be a little steep.
Away from home, I have to use a 48" Hi-Lift jack since the oem bottle jack is pretty much useless now. You'll need sliders for the Hi-Lift.

Not the first time I've heard that! I tease! Saw the subject title knowing I know nothing about jacks, but couldn't resist

I just use my 48" high lift with the wheel adapter if I'm OTR, but at home anything close to a 2' raise should be fine for you

Thanks for the info and the laffs!
I was considering the Arcan jack Dawg4runner. Northern tools has a store 5 miles away from me, and they offer free shipping to their stores. Lucky for me Northern tool sent me a $50 off / $200 purchase coupon in the mail the other day! Perfect timing!

Sounds like you need some 2x6's. That's what I use to get my babies off the ground.

I just jack from the lower control arm in front or the rear diff in the back...that way the extra suspension travel doesn't affect my jacking point...then put the jack stand on the frame. So i jack it up...then take off the tire and let it down to droop while the jackstand holds it from the frame...hope that helps i have a tiny craftsman jack too...doesn't quite cut it especially with daystar and 32's.

I thought about doing that the last time I jacked up the front end... but I couldn't find any spot on the LCA that looked like a good jack point.

I usually use the bump on the front skid as a jack point. It's convenient for getting both sides in the air fast. Done it that way probably 40 times with the same jack Dawg4Runner has.
