Battery power stays on after ignition is turned off

I'm having a weird problem with my truck. Every once in a while the power seems to stay on, even after switching the key off. Also i'll come out to the truck in the mornings and the radio will be on as well as the clock on the information display under the radio. One of the ways i can turn it off is if i insert the key back in and turn it to the acc switch, but not all the way to where you start the truck. Then i'll turn it back off. I'll do this a bunch of times till the clock turns off as well as the radio. But it's sporadic at best. So, i can't really pinpoint it or troubleshoot it.

The previous owner did install some dvd headrest tvs, along with the wireless headphone system too. They also seem to install an inverter, cause there is a 120v plug outlet next to passenger seat on the driver's side. All this wiring is wanting me to believe that might be the culprit.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Does anyone have any type of an idea what the cause might be or even heard of something like this?

I think nobody replied back to you because it's not possible to answer that question based on the information given. It's not possible to know what the previous person did with the wiring, electrical, etc to make it behave this way. Modern cars electrical system are very complex, best to take it into a shop and not just any shop, a shop or dealer that is good with electrical.

I have 2 "guesses";

either a bad ignition switch

or

a bad relay (one that allows power to stay on after the ignition switch is turned off until a door is opened).

Thanks for the feedback brother. Haven't really dove into this problem yet. Busy with a new baby. Probably in a couple of weeks.

Any solution?

Did you ever figure out what the problem was? I have been having a very similar thing happening to me. My mechanic has been unable to conclude on what was happening and couldn't get the problem to repeat at his shop.
