Don't mean to thread Jack, but since this is kind of on topic I didn't think anyone would mind.
Has anyone seen an 03' Dorado Gold 4runner with black cladding? Or anyone willing to photoshop one?
Cheers

I think momo.75 would be the person to ask -- he has photoshopping skills. And as far as ever seeing it, the first person I've ever seen pd all of their cladding and post the finished product is NJShadow.
Personally, I think it would look good on the Dorado Gold, especially if your cladding is faded. I only like the unpainted/non-plastidipped cladding on the silver 4runners. Otherwise, pd it!

You re-Plasti-dipped yesterday? Did you peel your old off first or just go over it?

No I just went over the old stuff. I did peel off on the front passenger door and fender though because they got pretty messy, but the reason I re-Plasti-Dipped was because the first time I did it, it came out too thin and uneven/patchy in some areas. But now it's thick and even, looks much better. By the way, it peeled off very easily from the door and fender because it was nice and thick.

This is all the prep I did yesterday. As you can see I took a different approach than the first time I did it. I used garbage bags over the wheels, paper, and a plastic tarp. It's still wet in the pictures.

I wish I can go off road, there's nowhere around me to do it. Otherwise I would. I'm on the border of Warren and Morris counties, more Northwest. Where are you located in NJ?

I probably did the recommended four coats. I also used about 5 cans once again, but it was over the old stuff too.

I'm thinking about just buying a dye and never worrying about it again.

For all that trouble I would've painted it permenently since I don't think you'd want to peel off Plasti-dip to reveal the grey faded plastic again.

I have thought about that as well. I had talked to a friend at a body shop and he was telling me that to do it right you have to spray the plastic with a special coating so the paint will stick good. I saw a 4Runner a few years ago that had painted their cladding and it was flaking off really bad. For the price Plasti-dip is a great option. Ideally, i would just get all replacement panels already painted black like the limited had in '03.......but that isn't going to happen.

Ive stated this every time i see people plasti-dip. (ive done this to my plasti-dip and protected very well through washing scrubbing and offroading) clearcoat spray the final product.
1 year later, no more reapplying still looks great on my runners, roofrack, grill, and rear emblem
