What defines best? Look in your owners manual. That is what you should use.

NGK or Denso are the preferred brands by Toyota.

Did you notice a big difference between iridium and the regular copper OEMs?

I did the NGK OEM replacements on my last change and would probably like the longer service interval.

Makes no difference if you have a V6 or V8.

Use the OEM plug for your vehicle. For Toyota that's either Denso or NGK.

They both make excellent plugs. Other companies like Champion, Autolite and even AC/Delco make plugs for this vehicle. But OEM plugs work the BEST. AC/Delco plugs work best on GM vehicles. Toyota outsourced the design of the plugs to Denso and NGK. They know how to make the correct plug for Toyota (and many other Asian vehicles).

There are 3 basic types of OEM plugs...Regular (copper), Platinum and Iridium. All 3 plugs perform EXACTLY THE SAME WAY. There is ZERO difference in performance or gas mileage among the 3 types of plugs. The ONLY difference is that Platinum and Iridium plugs last much longer. Platinum plugs will last about 60k miles while Iridium plugs can last over 100k miles. Regular plugs last about 40k miles.

Mechanics all over country have reported a drastic increase in stripped heads when trying to remove a spark plug that's welded itself to the heads after sitting in there for 100k miles. You won't have to change the plugs that often with Iridium plugs...but you may have major problems when you do.

I'm installing Denso Iridium SK20HR11 today. The plugs in the truck are at about 40k, but are not OEM. My 4R has 73k now. Go Denso or NGK Iridiums either one is great. I usually do better than OEM in parts but follow a timeline for maintenance based on my usage and/or Yota reccommendation. IE: I have iridium plugs but do change them at 30/40k NOT 100k; and use synthetic oil and change at 3k to 5k not 10k. I have applied this to all my vehicles and it works for me.

Then that's a major waste of money. As I said..Iridium plugs do NOT perform any different then the regular copper plugs. They just last longer. If you use Iridium plugs and do the work yourself..then after 40k miles...remove the iridium plugs and just inspect them...then just put them back in. This will prevent the plugs from seizing after 100k miles.

Yes it does, the manual calls for changing at 30K miles for a V6. 90K (or 100K) for the V8 using the iridium plugs.

???? Could be. I just changed out my plugs in my Civic. Plugs had 105K miles on them. Easy to take out (with some PB Blaster of course).

He is correct, however the V6 calls for "regular" spark plugs (that is what it was designed for) and the V8 calls for the Iridium plugs.

Have you used iridium plugs for 100k in the 4runner v6? There are varying reports I've found through searching that they don't last any longer than the copper plugs in the v6 for some reason, and that is why toyota spec'd copper plugs

Whoa man, barking is not necessary and check your god complex dude. Need to bark go to anger management, yoga or hit some trails and take your anger out there. I differ with you but in my experience it works for me and it's not a waste of money especially if you drive your vehicle harder than whats in the book in black and white. Drive your vehicle harder than you need a shorter maintenance time frame. The few bucks for a spark plugs is miniscule knowing that maintenance is good and complete.
Man is gettin HOT IN HERE!!!!!!!!!!

FYI I drive like a racer my other car is an AUDI A5 and performance is key for me. Harder driving is more maintenance.
