4th gen buyers guide?

I looked around for a 4th gen buyers guide. I didn;t see one. I know there is a 3rd gen guide. I'm am still up in the air about getting a 3rd or 4th gen 4runner. Thanks for your time.

Try looking at JA's site here: www.top4runners.com/ja/2007/purchasing.html

Believe it or not, but Wikipedia can be helpful too.

From personal experience and owning both you cant go wrong with either. I sold my 3rd gen to a friend in 2003 with 90k on it. He still owns it today with over 200k miles.

I just picked up an 06 recently and the styling and power is better, but if a 3rd gen fits your budget then go for it.

I'd go with a 4th gen, but make sure you have it inspected with a fine toothed comb. You mean buying guide as in what to look for and what to expect? If so, the 4th gens have a chronic issue with seized pistons in the calipers. I have a 2005 and started to change my brake pads yesterday. My front left caliper had one seized piston and the right front had two seized pistons.

Aside from that, I haven't had a single issue with my 4th gen. I love this thing! So comfortable and well laid out. The 3rd gen feels too narrow IMO, but then again I'm a stereotypical American, used to stereotypical American oversized standards of comfort lol.

Good luck in the hunt!
