2006 4runner Front Speakers Baffle or mount?

OK so I have improving my 2006 4runner audio system with new speakers in the front, alpine head unit, new speakers back as well as two 12 inch subs in the truck. My friend has been helping me install everything and we are almost done but we are stuck on the front speakers. The front speakers are built into the mount so when we take it off there is a gaping hole. So in order to install the front speakers I am about to purchase baffles for my new 6" x 9" alpine speakers, but I don't know the depth of the baffle I will need or if I can just get new mounts. Does anyone know the depth of the hole in the door so we won't have to take off the door again until i get the baffle or if i can just get mounts and not deal with the baffle? Thanks and really appreciate it.

I did the same thing if you remove the screws on the stock speaker and put a paint scraper between the metal on the speaker and the plastic and it will pry off.
I made a spacer and put 6" separates in by making a plate to fill the 6x9
I think you can just put the new one in directly
hope this helps

Hey crashman thanks for replying. So I was kind of confused on how you separated the metal from the plastic on the stock speaker because the entire mounting is a part of the speaker as a plastic mold. So if u could perhaps clarify more that'd be great. Thanks again!

I put 6.5's in front, and back. I purchased mounts from Amazon to fill the holes and as a spacer. You need to look at how deep your new speakers are, you can compare them to the stock ones. I think you will need to buy or make mounting ring for your new one you can buy them in wood or plastic. Google it you can do a search under the tacoma as well. Hear is a link to give you a idea to what you will need. I also made some mounts for the tweets using 1/8 plastic and my Dremel. Using the factory ones as the templet and just made the hold smaller because the factory tweets are so big.

if you're using 6x9s just cut the speaker out and mount the new speaker into the old 6x9 frame.

The JBL speakers can be removed, the stock ones are part of the bracket, you can get new brackets like these
