Casper421's Build/Picture thread
As of 3/22/17:
A little background and I'm sorry, I don't have any pics of the first two; my first vehicle was a used 00 xterra that helped me get into wheeling. It was alright stock but I quickly installed a Calmini 3" lift, 32/11.5/15 GY mtr's(old style), sliders, skids and some lights. Did well offroad but the 3.3 was gutless at altitude. I was living in Breckenridge and 9600' left no power in that little v6, so I upgraded. I replaced agility and nimbleness for power and space, I bought a used 04 Titan. I also bought a boat to help out with my summer job, waterski/wakeboard instructor. Truck was great for towing but I hated the extreme front rake so I installed a 6" Fabtech spacer/spindle lift(regret!) and a set of 325/60/20 on black Helo Maxx6's. Ended up blowing 5 rear diffs (under warranty) before I installed a Detroit Trutrac rear LSD but then blew the front diff a few months later. It never saw any trails but saw some dirt and mud hauling my dirt bike to many spots and did surprisingly well in snow with 300lbs of lead bars over the rear axle.
I decided to leave the modified world and in February 08 I got a great deal on a barely used 07 SE V8 in black. Needed the V8 for the boat and the overall size was perfect, not to mention the all time 4wd for the snow! Got a great trade in on my truck so I signed the papers. Within a week I had the stereo from the truck in the 4runner with 20% tint on the front windows and I told myself I would keep it at that for a long time. Well, I actually did but after 3.5 years and a little over 80k miles, the shocks started to die, so...the following happened and now I'm hooked!!
This will be a level 5+ trail rig, overland rig and a "take anywhere weekend wilderness camper", also my current DD.

Looks great! It's about time you started a build thread. Now anytime I want to see my truck with 285s, I can just check this thread.

Great pics Chris! I've always liked your truck... and the custom body work
Good luck with all the up coming armor, be sure and post pics! We'll have damn near the same oddball skid combo. My expeditioneer front skid is basically the same as the man-a-fre front and my LCA skids shipped this morning
Have you heard anything about the BAMF skids rubbing the man-a-fres? I've seen in the thread over on TW that they rub on buds & relentless skids, I'm hoping they clear these.

Thanks! Never made a build thread because there was really nothing exciting about my 4runner. I have more planned now...

Appreciate it Matt! I think the body work gives it character. This way i dont worry about more dents or scrapes on the trails.
I havent talked to Jerry about it yet but im picking up my lca skids at his shop on friday, i think. Ill ask him then. I read the same on TW; i dont think our skids are as wide as budbuilt and others mentioned so we should be fine. If not, its not by much and ill trim the engine skid.
Dont worry about pics, this is also a picture thread!

Three bolts that go through the three holes that are already in the lca. You do have to drill out one of the holes to 3/8" to accommodate the bolt. After my wheeling/camping trip this weekend, I'll drill, paint, trim the factory skid plate and mount them. Can't beat 1/4" of steel for armor!

There was a group buy on TW but it must have ended. Theres a link to the gb on their homepage right under the first paragraph, try it and see, its giving me an error at work. The gb made its way over here: bamf lca gb I would send Jerry(jlee) a PM. IIrc, they were right around $140 with shipping, definitely worth it. Next up from Jerry, bamf's first set of sliders for 4th gens, just for me! Were taking measurements this weekend.

I can help you out with a few of the measurements...
the main rails will be in the 66" (covers rocker panel) to 70"(from back edge of front fender to front edge of rear fender) long range. from outside of truck frame rail to inside of main slider rail its about 6" +/- 1/8" for prefference of where you want that rail to sit and how far out you want to protect.
3 rails per slider to tie back to the frame is sufficient however 4 will stop any flex that may occur durring use. 4x4x3/8" thick plates should be installed on the frame rail to tie to the rails that tie the slider to the frame.
^^^ that should get you a weld point (the main slider rail) to frame up any cool fab'd rolled tubing or personal touches to make up the part of the slider thats going to push to off of trees and rocks (outer framing for lack of a better word)
On my setup with a 1.25 body lift, with the main slider rail about 3/4" below my rockerpanel. The rails that tie back to the frame sit on the frame @: from bottom of truck frame rail to center of attachment rail measures 2 1/8". so from the bottom of the frame rail to the bottom of the attachment rail the measurement is 1.25 for a 1.75 diameter attachment tube rail. but im sure yall will have fun doing ur own figuring!
