73 Thousand Too Many Miles?

Hey guys,

I'm about to trade in my 05 VW Touareg due to several electrical gremlins while traveling long distances. I would like to replace this with another 4WD vehicle that is also extremely reliable. This is why I'm considering 4runners. They have a solid history of dependability. My question is:

I've located a 2007 4runner SR5 with the sport package and 4WD. It has 73 thousand miles currently. Is this too many miles for a 2007? Should I look for something else with fewer miles?

Thanks

Assuming you're not a troll . . . .

A well-maintained 2007 with 73K is just getting started. A lot of people buy Toyotas for their reliability. As long as you like the maintenance history and the interior/exterior is in good shape, go for it.

FYI The next big maintenance is the timing chain replacement at 90K.

Yea. 75k is right around the average miles a US car sees a year. Insurance companies see that around 15k is average.

So. No. Not too many miles.
Although, highway miles are always NICER than city, so if you see a young car with a ton of miles, it means that person was usually a long driver and those miles are easy.

Regardless. No. That is the amount you would expect to see.

Of course, make sure the service history is ok (everything done like oil changes, differential fluids changed, etc). I got my 2005 with 72K back in 2010. She has 93K miles now and I couldn't be happier. Extremely reliable! You have a Touareg? Ick.............. I had a friend (surgeon) who had one of those, he loved it at first but despised it after owing it several months. He quickly got rid of it. Anyway, you can't go wrong with a 4Runner.

73K mi in May 2012

I just bought my 2005 SR5 V8 4wd in late May 2012 with 73K mi. I enjoy driving my T4R; I'm looking forward when it has 200K mi.

It sounds as if he is new to the 4runners and has a bit of research to do. We all did.
You should familiar yourself with the different models. The v6 and v8 have different maint schedules for a few things.

The V6 has a chain, which as stated, is usually considered maint free.
The V8 has a belt, which is what the maint schedule is calling for at 90k.

My '07 V8 just turned 90k and is running strong as ever and I love it more everyday. I had my belt replaced at about 75k due to water pump leak which was covered under the warranty. Other than that, my truck is solid! You won't regret buying a 4runner, especially if it's a V8
