Power Steering Pressure Hoses?

This is for a '03 4Runner SR5 V6, I just replaced the hardlines for the transmission because they rotted through. While I was replacing them, I noticed that the PS lines look like they are in bad shape. all of the metal sections appear to be rusted and in need of replacement.

The dealership wants an absurd amount of money for these lines and I was wondering if anyone has made their own or bought aftermarket? Rockauto usually has good prices and they list this at $85 which isn't bad, but I appreciate the feedback from anyone who has already done this. Also, I am hoping that someone can confirm that both hoses come as one unit? There is only one part listed so I would assume so.

You can see the lines in this diagram (the ones going into the rack).
POWER STEERING TUBE. Fits: 2003 TOYOTA 4RUNNER SR-5 4000CC 24-VALVE DOHC EFI, AUTOMATIC 4-SPEED | ToyotaPartsOverstock.com

Thanks in advance
Joel

I was wondering same thing. I removed radiator and noticed a lot of rust specially under radiator. All the metal pipes for power steering and transmission cooling lines are also all rusted up. I am now looking for a substitute for the high pressure power steering hose. I mind as well replace it now that is easy to get to. Has anyone gotten a custom one built ?

A return line of my Power Steering just failed (likely due to corrosion and rust).

I was backing out of my parking space and noticed a small puddle of fluid on the pavement. The power steering pump was also making some groaning noises.

Stopped immediately and popped the hood, and saw the fluid seeping out of the corroded return line (thankfully it was not a high pressure line). I drove to my mechanic's shop right away (conveniently only a block away!).

Toyota oem lines are very costly (and come as a kit with parts I really don't need at this time). My mechanic is going to fabricate the section of line that I need and get me on my way. I'm not exactly sure where he is sourcing the line/hose, but he usually uses Auto Value Parts.

You may be able to get a hydraulic shop to make you some custom lines, the only issue is the fittings if you have the time to hunt one down and get quotes?

Bumping this back from the dead . . . any luck with the RockAuto part and if so, what is the part number? I want to replace my hard lines since they are in rough shape and the $280 dealership tab is hurting me.

Did you ever find an alternative for the OEM lines? You think just using high pressure rubber tubing with clamps would work?

If the old fittings are salvageable just take them to a hydraulic shop like black works suggested. It'll still be cheaper and they'll be higher quality. I just did this with my classic mustang and it's the best way to go. This is obviously for the pressure side.

For the return side you could probably source the hard line and just bend it to copy the oem contours using a brake line tool. If mine ever go south I'll br trying that method.

There is no aftermarket part for the Toyota Part 4441335010 pressure side coolant line. Mine was extremely rusty and rather waiting for it to erupt I kept searching by googling the part number. Finally, a used one showed up from California. It was in like new condition and was shipped to me for 125 total. I went that route rather than paying 280.00. The entire entire thing was so rusted including the fittings and brackets so I just would rather replace all and be done with it.

My 4Runner has a bad leak in what I believe to be the power steering pressure hose. The steering wheel is almost impossible to turn. My mechanic said I needed a new pump, intermediate shaft, and rack and pinion. I'm hoping all it really needs is the hose. Any input?
