Missing part from steering wheel?

I bought my 05 SR5 in mid 2006. As long as I have had it, there has been this gap/hole in the left side of the steering wheel. Was there an audio control here at some point? Is there anything that I can do to either cover this gap or utilize the opening?

Thanks.

It's little cover that cost $3.63, see part #3 on this diagram. Order correct side and you're set.
