Truck recently totaled, but just pulled trigger on a new one!
Hey guys,
Unfortunately last week I got into an accident, which totaled my beautiful 2003 4Runner. As some of you may know, I put so much into that truck. Many hours spent Plasti-Dipping the cladding, washing, waxing etc. I also replaced many parts that didn't need replacing, just to make it look new again. Nobody was injured in the collision with a Chevy minivan, but there was a lot of damage (way worse on the minivan). Significant damage to mine included airbags, suspension components, and the frame got bent pretty bad. I was able to get most of my mods, 3 wheels and tires (one of them was damaged), stereo, taillights, alarm system, HIDs, and exhaust. The only thing I lost was the Daystar spacer lift.
I swapped out the wheels with 1985 4Runner wheels I got from a junkyard (which didn't turn because they were too small, but it was good enough, and funny to look at), my old headlights and taillights, and the old exhaust. R.I.P. 4Runner--2003 SR5 V8 4x4 with 93,500 miles.
Now to the good news!
I just purchased a new-to-me 2006 4Runner SR5 4x4 V8 with 109,500 miles. I will be picking it up tomorrow and the mods will begin . I still need to get my hands on a lift (I hope to go full suspension because the shocks are starting to seep). I got an excellent deal on this '06 (was actually looking for '03-'05 because of the styling but love the look of all 4th gens). I will post pics tomorrow when I pick it up!

That's a shame man! Your truck looked beautiful, but on to new mods! Luckily you got to save almost everything!
How did the accident happen?

Glad to hear everyone is ok.
What color is the new 4Runner? Gonna put your aftermarket headlights on it?

I was sitting at an intersection waiting to turn left. There was a lot of traffic, so I was waiting for about a minute. I found my chance to turn when there was gap and the van was coming with her left turn signal on (as if to turn toward the opposite side I was turning). Her turn signal meant nothing as she kept going straight and hit me going 40-45 mph.
As for the headlights, no they don't fit the '06-'09, only '03-'05. I plan on getting the sport headlights and throwing some HIDs in them...why? Are you interested in them?
EDIT: Forgot to mention the color, Nautical Blue Metallic I think it's called.

Well I hate to pull the boots off a dead man. But…
I might be interested in those headlights.

In such as situation, who's at fault. I could understand arguments on both sides.
BTW, nautical blue is an awesome color. Wanted to get this color, but color wasn't a deal breaker.

I've nearly been in accidents like that. I never trust turn signals.
Shoot me a PM if you decide to unload those headlights.

Omg! I didn't know you were in a accident! Happy you're OK! I've been in one accident, 65 MPH. Someone pulled out infront of me and I didn't have time to stop. 1998 4Runner, 136k ran great no problems. Bent the frame, I literally got down on my hands and knees and begged them to fix it. I miss it but I do love my 4th Gen. If it ever got totaled, some one wouldn't have a head. And if it was a guy they wouldn't have either heads! Haha. Jk. I love the nautical blue. That, white, red, and shadow mica are the best colors IMO. Have fun with the new one, and . !

This is probably my biggest pet peeve while driving. I hate people unaware of their turn signals.

I agree. I rarely trust turn signals but because of the amount of traffic I went for it. Lesson learned I guess. Will post pics of the new truck today or tomorrow, picking it up late afternoon today!

Is it the blue one available at Towne Kia in Denville?
If so, looks very nice.

Yes, but like I tell everyone, have a mechanic give it a good look over if you can.
I only say this because a coworker recently came across a similar deal only to find the frame had been bent and then bent back. Something only a qualified person might find. Not to be a curmudgeon, but just want to advise that these things do happen and it's best to protect yourself if you have access to a qualified person like this.
If not, I'm sure it's a fine truck.
Enjoy and good luck with it!
