Trip report Michigan Silver Lake Dunes
There are times that a V8 is the only way to go. We were able to power over all of the dunes with the whole family of 4 inside. Ran at 15psi in stock size tires, this seemed to work the best, started at 12 psi, but this gave up too much ground clearance. Stuffed the front end into a dune hard enough to cave in the front skid plate, but sledge hammer has flattened it back out well enough. Ran in low range with the center diff locked, and the automatic trans would drop down a gear at the top of the hill, and just send us right over the top.
Plans for the next trip, are a sturdier skid plate, and new Bilstien 5100 shocks to get the front end raised up out of the sand. And a sturdier flag mount.
