You really don't understand how this worked -
Toyota extended the warranty on
ALL early 4th gen 4Runners until May 31, 2017 and
IF your dash started cracking within that period, they would replace it. Once the end of the extended warranty passed, it was a dead deal no matter what a dealership may have wanted to do (unless they wanted to pay the $1600 out of their pocket which did not happen). For many of us, the dash did not start cracking until after the extension and so we were out of luck. Yours started cracking before May 31, 2017 and so Toyota paid for it. No one did you any special favors, you just had the problem within the scope of the extended warranty. I'm reading all of this right off the notification from Toyota.
It also covered Avalon, Camry, Sienna and Solara vehicles. Some of these are still covered since the problem was as late as the 2011 model year. For the 4Runner, it was only the 2003-2005 model years.
