Arrow ***Cracked Dashboard Action Request***

As several of you have posted, there is an issue with some of the dashboards in the 4th gen. Since i work from home my truck is parked in the garage 90% of the time and is very well taken care of. I never use any Armorall or any other chemicals on the dash. About 3 or 4 years ago it developed a 6" crack on the dash above the glove box. I paid an interior guy around $150 to fix it, thinking it was a random thing. Over the last 6 months i have cracks going all over my dash. Since mine is an '03, it is way out of warranty, but this is still unacceptable. Obviously this is a default in the dash material.

I just called the Customer Relations number and opened a Claim. After going through the whole deal, the guy said there wasn't any information from Toyota on this issue, so they couldn't do anything. He did say that if there was more claims towards this issue Toyota would be taking note and would probably do something. At this point all we can do is try with a joint effort.

If you have any issues with your dashboard cracking, without any previous damage, and would like to try to get it fixed call this number.

Thank you for that info. My dealer referred me to a Toyota USA number where they promptly blew me off the phone and said I had to go through the dealer. Still waiting on reply from them, been busy and have not followed up.

Good job.

Post your (and all those that come after) case number please and I will do the same. By referencing the case numbers we can prove this is not an isolated incident as they try to make it out as.

Again, good job.

I don't have any idea how many people have opened cases, but have seen a bunch of posts about it happening to members here and in other forums.

I just noticed mine had cracked on the drivers side above the instrument panel. Have not used any product on it since owning it. It happened recently after moving from Cali to NC, where it now sits outside in the full sun all day.

Momo and I have identical rides, I will have a look hopefully I am OK!

Seems like the crack is more heat vs time vs material then cleaning or maintenance biased considering MOMO's story.

There are plenty of threads discussing this and conditions leading up to it, armor all/ no armor all ect. Maybe keep this one clean but for case numbers, the names, and dealer address locations of where we eventually get a final resolution for each of our individual cases whatever that may be?

From what i have gathered it is a defect in the dash material. I just had the one crack a couple of years ago, but there are cracks all over it now. It still is in the garage most of the time, probably more now that gas prices have gone up.

I have the same model 4th gen as momo...black 2003 sport edition

I also have the cracked dash issue...with more than 10+ cracks

The car was previously a Florida car so maybe the heat is the cause...

I also have the issue, black 2003 Limited. Mine has 168k miles and is mostly stored outside, so I just assumed that was the cause. All cracks are on the driver side. I have one a few inches and another that goes from the edge, over the gauge cluster, and stops in the center of the dash. I've spoke with a few local shops but haven't had any luck finding a way to repair and/or stop it from spreading.

Man you guys are giving me the heebie geebies. If my beautiful dash got all cracked out I think I'd cry.

Sure wish Toyota would do right by you. Good luck!!
