110,000 service with timing belt cost?
I have been putting off my timing belt for over a year so I finally went to the dealer to get a quote. I am at 110,500 miles so I figured I would take care of a couple other things besides the belt.
Heres the list of things that will be done and the prices
timing belt $379
w. pump $299
rear diff $60
front diff $60
spark plugs $159
transfer case $60
lube propeller shaft free
which comes out to $1155 OTD
I asked for a better price and he said he would do $925 OTD
Should i jump on this deal or shop around some more?
and also, is there anything else i should be getting done that is not listed?

I agree, if you are able to hold a wrench then save the $100 labor and do the plugs yourself.

Not a bad price BUT you could save good chunk by doing the diffs, transfer case and plugs yourself. They require pretty basic hand tools and you could get it all done by lunch even if taking your time.
Nothing wrong with taking it in to get done if you aren't confident though.
Oh, and when you get the TB/Water Pump done, make sure they go ahead and replace the idler pulley(s)/tensioner while he's in there.
There'a local independent shops here in Denver do a Timing Belt/Water Pump kit for under $500. Not sure what the dealer charges.

you can get all the parts for a t-belt kit on amazon for under 400 bucks comes with new water pump, wp seal, crank seal, cam shaft seal, new thermostat, new t-belt, new auto tensioner, new idler pulleys, and a new drive accessory belt.
you dont have to worry about the crank shaft seal or the cam shaft seals I haven't seen or heard of one leaking yet

Ok thanks for the replies everyone.
I do have access to basically any tool i need and am decently handy my self, soooo I am considering doing the spark plugs and fluids, but i've never changed spark plugs or any fluids before... I cannot find a tutorial or how to on here, just a lot of tips...Are there any on here/ where do I find this?
I have seen the how-to for the timing belt and it doesn't look like something I would want to do personally, so i will be leaving that up to the dealer.
But if i can save a couple hundred $$ doing these fluids and plugs i'm down. Any advice? recommendations?

my friend is a mechanics and he charge me $600.00. Got new belts and water pump. You should find aa friend to help you out. You can stand there and watch or help

I can tell you that in South Florida, I will be shelling out about $400 more than that and only getting about half of what is on your list done. I got quotes from 3 dealers and they were all the highest of what I've ever seen mentioned on this forum.

While sparkplugs are pretty easy...for a first timer it might be worth it for a friend to show you. Get a spark-plug socket that has the rubber insert.

And a torque wrench.
I've got the 'click stop' kind and the 'beam or gauge' kind. For your first time doing spark plugs I actually recommend the cheaper 'beam/gauge' kind. Less chance of over torqueing and/or stripping the spark plug hole.
Take it easy. Slow and steady wins the race.

I was just quoted $975 for timing belt, water pump, tensioner, and pulleys from a local shop. How does that sound? I was thinking of asking the dealer to match that price just because I would rather have them do it.
