The Hacken-Runner, needs more originality...

Just getting this started since in the coming months (years) we will be doing upgrades, downgrades, and sidegrades to this mint silver 2005 SR5, 75k, V6, 4x4, with the 3rd row option.

Love it so far. Decent on gas, capable of going places, and nice HVAC. Truth be told, not quite as awesome as our Previa, but really nice for what it is. What it is: a common SUV, so far...

Stuff done by myself:
- Debadged, next day saw a silver runner debadged also...
- Hydrocarbon filter removed, more than 100whp gain for sure.
- Flat blacked out wheels.
- Took running boards off.
- Doesn't NEED anything else.

Considering sooner than later:
- Black out the grill? Not a big fan of chrome unless it is on a motorcycle or OLD car/truck.
- Paint calipers something other than dirty-hunks-of-metal brown. Gray, black, or silver mayhaps.
- Cheap items/ideas to get me a bit more original until this thing needs new tires. Suggestions welcome!!

Wish list:
- Wheels, don't know what yet, but I like the Countersteerers.
- Tires, will need some in a year or two, cannot decide whether the heavier, bigger tire is worth the better look.
- Lift, on the cheap I would be fine with a Cornfed 3/2 or DS 2.5/1.5 since this Runner was a highway queen, probably will not be able to justify a whole new setup until it pukes out.
- Spacers, I like the 'bulldog' look more than the tucked look for sure. Previa already sports the bulldog stance with its Dodge Magnum steelie 17's...

So here it is, a build thread/log/space for my crap. Will upload pics of progress when I have time and gumption. Love so many of your rigs and thanks for the ideas!!

Nate.

If you are looking for mods on the cheap you can paint the headlight/fog light bezels along with the grill.

Headlight idea is not a bad idea...

Worried about moisture leaking into the assembly though.

Update, beautiful wife says 'yuck' when she saw lifted Runners with big meats. Probably have to do the Daystar lift right before new tires next year; lift is not too 'extreme' for her liking

I thought I blew all those damned Previas up during cash for clunkers?

God I hate those things... got some guts to them with the SC, but ugly ass spacemobiles... and working on them is a pain...

oh man the previa is tough to beat...even with a 4th gen runner... ;) Look forward to the build, and especially the previa picks.

Previa pic up.

Also blacked out wheels on HackenRunner; also took off the running boards (should make the kiddos tougher).

Lastly, is a alignment needed in all cases of lifting? Looking at the Daystar 2.5/1.5 for $130 from 4wheelparts.com and the extra $50 for an alignment might be a deal breaker at this moment. Probably will wait a year until new tires are needed...

I got an alignment before and after the lift. Definitely needed one again after. $50 will pay for itself in extended tire life.

Just got rid of our '95 Previa LE SC AWD with just shy of 300,000 mi on it. Original engine and tranny. No major work ever needed. Ate undersized front rotors for breakfast. Unbelievably reliable vehicle. It went anywhere you pointed it. Heavy, solid and pretty well powered with the SC.

New England rust ate it up in the end.....
