Install of new CV axle and Front Bearing Hub

Nothing new here...but I know pictures are appreciated!!

Because of this and other T4R forums I have become a successful driveway mechanic. Thank you. I thank each of the posters here and elsewhere that have helped others take care of our fantastic 4Runners!

So today I took another step....have already replaced calipers...

At 153,000 miles, with a Torn outside boot and grease caked everywhere....I decided to man up and do the CV axle replacement and a hub replacement all on the right front.

the Left Front is still holding on with my radiator clamp CV Boot Mod

So I am tired of bottle jacking and cribbing up my jack (because of lift) so I gifted myself a COSTCO Monster Floor jack!

Then, after getting this 100 lb monster in service I commenced to tear the right front side down... so easy! gentle with the ABS sensor...hang the caliper...unbolted the tie rod...per the TOY manual vs the sway bar...

Boy did I have a time getting the Rotors off the HUB...they were rusted fast...I beat the livin crap out of them with a rubber mallet...had previously done the PB Blaster treatment....

The Axle popped out sweet with a 4 lb hand sledge and a 18" crowbar...

here is the tear down...sorry for the fuzzy picture

Soooo...the Axle seal at the Diff housing was a $*&% to get out...153000 miles of sealing....

I was not nice to it...as one of our community recommended:

Then I lovingly seated the new seal with a coat of gear oil...had to fuss alittle to get it started before I used the new axle to drive it home...

New axle drove home sweet...Put the new hub on....started to bolt it and remembered the dust shield...unbolted it and did it again...I found getting the bolts on a new hub through the dust shield and started...was a pain...but I persevered and got it done...
