Light out behind clock

I noticed the other night that the light on half of the display that shows the air temp, clock, etc in my 05 ltd is out on the clock side.

I'm guessing something caused this when I had a local stereo place install a grom iPod cable/Bluetooth a couple days ago.

Do you guys think this is just a fuse? How do I go about fixing it?

First image is what it looks like at night.

Second image shows the clock that I can't see when it's dark.

It's pretty annoying not being able to see the time at night.

Sounds like you just have a bulb out considering half of it works..

Ever since i installed my Alpine head unit about 3 years ago my display has had no lights.. Never really did anything about it or cared maybe i just missed a wire who knows

Buy a few of those little bas**** bulbs while you're there. I swear that's about the most common thing that goes out on these 4Runners.

Got it fixed! I prob should have bought some more bulbs, you're right. I may just order some as they're $7 at the dealer

I know this post is super old but I just purchased a 4th gen with an aftermarket head unit and have this same problem.. thought it was the bulbs so I replaced them and still doesn't light up.. does anyone have any idea why an aftermarket head unit would cause these lights to stop working.. AC lights don't work either except for the ones that only light up when you press them. Could it be a fuse?

Did you purchase genuine Toyota bulbs ? If so , it sounds like something just was not plugged in. It is so easy to remove that assembly, consider going through the whole thing again.

I didn't think it worked when I replaced it yesterday... but apparently it was so sunny out I just didn't see it. As soon as the sun went down I checked and all the lights work!! Yes I did buy genuine Toyota lights. Happy it worked and super easy to replace

I know this is an old post, but obviously a recurring problem so here’s my question.

How many of each bulb is required? I need to replace the lights in the info/clock screen and also in the climate control buttons. I found the part numbers in the link someone else posted, but no info on the quantity needed

Here's a diagram of the back which has the bulb placement, also note that there's a slight difference between the SR5 display and the Limited which has the dual zone display.

awesome guide, very helpful if that is your problem BUT I have already changed the bulbs and still no light, if you know other reasons why this happens (fuses etc) could you also post an answer

Thanks for sharing! The lights are totally out on that part of my dash, going to do this when I upgrade the head unit.

Thanks!
