You mention the "body had minimal rust", for the most part the bodies on T4Rs usually have little rust with the exception of the rear hatch because of the sound deadening material that was stuck on over unprimed metal.
The question I have is did you look at the frame, which does have a issue with severe rust especially in the "rust belt" states?
