Great work and write up Mytoy4,
Without the bondio/ fiberglass work it seems a lot less daunting of a mod and I think I prefer the flush look!

Thank you!
Though I did like the look of it, I still like the 'raptor' grille I made a lot better.

That grill looks awesome! I still can't believe you can't buy one like this prefabricated online. Seems like they would sell like crazy.

I did find a similar grill for an '05-11 Tacoma that looks like it might fit. The front end looks identical to 4th Gen T4R. Any thoughts?

I'm a DIY guy, but I'd love to save my time for other projects if possible.

Don’t know what year you have but that will not fit an ‘06-09 4R. And you can buy one online, it’s just very expensive (close to $400 IIRC). Don’t have the link but it’s discussed in one of the Satoshi threads.

I almost got the raptor style lettering but decided to get the “TRD plate”. Thanks for the reference to customcargrills, made it very easy!Mytoy4 Satoshi Grille Mod-img_1616-jpgMytoy4 Satoshi Grille Mod-img_1617-jpg

Looks like I'll be joining this club soon. Just ordered from Custom Car Grills. I paid for the pre-cut kit with the lettering installed and painted. I don't have the time/patience/tools to do this project in under 10 or so hours and I never seem to have the luck/skill most of you have with "1st time" attempts. I'd probably have to do this three times to get it right and by then I'd want to set my 4Runner on fire and kick puppies, so I ponied up the $$ to shorten the project time. Pics to come eventually.

FINALLY got all the work done. I didn't do any of this myself. Ordered the grille and lettering from Custom Car Grilles. Ordered a new aftermarket grille frame in matte finish/unpainted. Sent it to a body shop to have them cut the insert out, fill in the gaps, and paint it. I used JB weld to make the grille stick to the frame and ended up doing two layers. Was having my local shop add some rock lights, so I had them add in the Raptor lights, too. I'm really happy with how it turned out and I'll get better pics this weekend.
