ahh, the wonderful smell of sulfur!
yeah, i know. this issue is posted all over the place. i brought my runner into the dealer and complained about it and, after some hemming and hawwing, they said that they perferformed a tsb on it. that was a year ago. the sulfur smell is still really bad, almost worse. have others noticed that once their vehicle has had the tsb performed on it that the sulfur smell goes away, or is their quick fix just a gimmick.

Supposedly they replace the cat. I had mine done back in June and although I don't smell it as much I get that ever so pleasant scent once in a while. I can't speak for a year or so out though....

The TSB reduces the smell but it does still do it. There is another Sulfur TSB for the 2005 V6 so there still maybe something else we can do.

The sulfur smell is a feature of the 4Runner! I use it to deter people who tailgate.

Someone do a location pole?
I might be wrong...
Did anyone else notice that the complaints for the sulphur smell all seem to be coming from the east coast and central US?
I don't have it on mine here on the left coast and I don't think anyone else here has complained.

I smelled it on my '05 V6 LTD for the first time this week. It's the first time I have had the windows open for any extended time since I bought it because it has been so hot and humid here. Only seems to happen once in a while, and it isn't too bad... but I think I'll look into the new TSB anyway. I'll let you all know if it helps any.

I installed a Magnaflow with a side exit exhaust on an '05 V8, makes no difference, still stinks to high heaven
I always drive with the windows down and the rear window about 1/3 down, love fresh air. Except most times it's not that fresh.
Toyota needs to do whatever they have to to fix this!

the wonderful smell
the 1 feature of the truck i love is having all the windows down but that smell! having the tsb done on monday. oh yeah they told it was the gas. thank you for the great info on the tsb. it helped tremdously. will let you know how it goes. being in wisconsin means i have limited time for the windows open so if it stinks its not enjoyable.
05 galatic gray V6 no mods yet

Well I am on the East Coast and do not seem to have the sulfur problem. Then again, the only time I usually have the rear window down is when I hitch up my trailer. During that time the engine is only idling which probably contributes to the lack of a sulfur problem for me.
