Rear main seal?

Is this a common issue with the 4th gen? I searched and couldn't find any other posts on it so Im guessing not! I have drips coming from where my transmission and motor mount together....there is a small "access door" right at the front bottom of the tranny where it meets the motor, and it is dripping from there....any thoughts are opinions would be great. Thanks

An oil leak from the bottom of the bell housing area usually means one of two things. Either the engine rear main is leaking, or the transmission front seal is leaking. Collect some of the leaking oil on a clean sheet of white paper, and compare it to both the engine oil and trans oil. Trans oil should be redish in color, while engine oil should be more tan/brown (depending on when it was last changed). Once you have determined which fluid it is, you can move on to the decision as to what you need to do about it.

And it's not dripping from up higher and just collecting there? The v6's valve cover gasket can leak and sometimes a head gasket. I've just never heard of a rear main seal leaking. I mean it's definitely possible. But i would check higher.
