head gaskets

hey guys!

i'm looking for some advice/thoughts here. i have an 04 v6 limited that as the title says blew the driver side head gasket. i'm thinking about doing the other side while its apart. the shop said they could the other side for $250 on top of what they are charging me for the side they have to get into anyways. the rig has 131k on it....any thoughts/ideas would help.

thanks

If it's only another 250 I would do both sides while they are at it. The piece of mind is worth that alone.

For $250 I would do it as well.

If one blew - you ought to do the other.

When one head gasket goes...it doesn't mean the other one is near death. The problem is...if it does go then you have to do a lot of the same work all over again. It wasn't the case with older push-rod engines. But with OTH cam where you have to remove the timing chain and everything to get to the timing chain...it might be worth doing the other side for just a little bit more money.
