Headlamps

I got mine from rock auto, really happy with them. Here is a link.

2004 TOYOTA 4RUNNER 4.7L V8 Headlamp Assembly | RockAuto

Also, there is a previous thread with a good step by step for installation and there are a couple good youtube videos out there.

Lastly, here is a link for the radiator shroud clips that you break when you remove them. Mine were very brittle and were beyond saving. Part number 90467-08217.

If you can find a brand called TYC, they make excellent OEM style replacements...

I just changed all my front end lighting on my Silverado using TYC and you cant tell the difference from stock. Looks like a brand new truck again.

TYC also makes them for the 4Runner, and they sell on Rock Auto.

Everything is DOT approved, comes with NSF sticker/cert and everything.

I am planning on doing it for the 4Runner too... for the price, its not worth buying a restoration kit for me because its just going to fade again. Been there done that already.

Bought Replacement Lamp Housings, DEPO Part Numbers

I just installed a DEPO 312-1165L into the left-side (driver) of my 2004 V8 $-Runner (242000 miles, runs like new, stock everything except timing, radiator, A/C compressor - all replaced before the original part failed), The right side (passenger) DEPO number is 312-1165R. Amazon sells them. Quality seems as good as the OEM units. I used the rejuvenation kits several times until I got sick of them. One lens was cracked anyway, so I bought new. Installation is easy - I used one plastic tool to disconnect the tabs of the grill piece and one phillips screwdriver for four screws each, and one small 10mm socket to get the small machine screw on the bottom. That last screw required you to lay on your back under the suv and using a 10mm socket, back out the screw. I loosened mine easily and then just used my fingers. It's easy and no more freaking kits to scrub off the failing lens oxidation.

I used a 3M kit I got off Amazon for about $16. It says it has a 2-year warranty. I think I spent about 2 hours actual time. I had to recharge my drill batteries a few times and I don't include that in the total time spent. If I have to spend 2 hours every 2 years, well, that's okay.

Here's a link to my restoration

How did those TYC headlamp fixtures hold up?

Great while I had them. If you want more current feedback, you would have to ask the person who stole my truck.

I know in the aviation world they have good results with the micro-mesh kits but it takes a lot of patience as they start with 1500 grit and work up to 6000.

FWIW mine were too far gone to consider sanding. I bit the expensive bullet and bought the OE parts. They fit good and look good. I used a couple of youtube videos to school me thru the process.

Headlights and a question

I recently purchased headlights from TEQ Customs. Very well made and good customer service.

Also, i performed a facelift from 2003-2005 headlights to 2006-2009. Now, for some reason my turn signals only working with headlights on. Any idea as to why this might be?

Thanks for any help.
