Pioneer AVH-P8400BH install problem

Hi, I am a new member, just registered. I was searching for a solution to an install problem with a new double DIN Pioneer AVH-P8400BH. I really like this unit and was hoping for a fix. I was at the installer today and was looking forward to the new unit when I was told there was a problem with getting the face unit to rotate properly in the double DIN adapter frame. Anyone had this problem or heard of it? We tried heating the frame a little without success. Supposedly this is the frame for the 2005 4Runner and all fits well until you try to rotate the screen ( as in trying to insert a DVD).

if you have the the jbl audio that is the flat flush style Radio on top of the HVAC. you need the limited dash kit and need to trim the top of it so the head unit so it can fold down.

i will post a picture of what i had to do to get mine to fit.

if you just have the regular round one that is recessed you just need the 2 side adapters.

I have the 4400bh and i had to trim around the entire inside of the frame. i also had to square out the rounded corners. works pretty good now. i used a box cutter razor type blade and shaved off a thin layer at a time, it still looks clean.

There are several kits out there and you will have to modify all of them to get it to work right. I had the jbl 6 disc changer in mine and the kit from 'Best Kit' seemed to work the best for mine with my AVIC. I still had to do a fair amount of adjusting. I still am not happy with it, but haven't had the motivation to fix it.

i have the stock JBL system and it sounds great. maybe not if you're looking to make your ears bleed, but... even with the JBL i have considered replacing the stock sub/amp and front door speakers, they seem to have the most trouble when you really want to turn it up.
