Is it an actual button? I've seen LEDs like that for aftermarket alarms. That's a weird one..

It activates the flux capacitor. Pushing it makes you go forward in time 1 second. Unfortunately, it only defaults going 1 second forward. You need to buy the head unit if you want to input where in time you wanna go, but I hear they're really hard to find.

Yeah looks like an alarm button. They usually put them in that 4 button cluster but as you can see all of your spots are taken.

i agree, that is most likely a flashing LED light for alarm (aftermarket, not original)

most definitely aftermarket (maybe by first owner) because the manuals are silent on this. i would have thought a flashing LED for the alarm system too, but why make the LED indicator a press button? feels like trying to start some kind of reset action when you press it.

There was a port installed one that looked similar to that but it was a red button. It was an LED and also a push button switch. I had it on my first 4th gen that got totaled. I scanned in the booklet for it for someone else asking about it. Here's the post for it with a link to the booklet. Maybe it'll help.

Factory Alarm Question?

Edit: If you go to page 1 of that thread you can see a picture of the port installed button I'm talking about.

Most of the time when there are aftermarket alarms installed on vehicles, there's some sort of switch or button that turns the valet mode on or off. I don't remember what the valet mode does though. Take a look under the dash and find the alarm box. See who makes it and what model it is. Do a search for a users manual for that alarm.

Good point.

Also, sometimes they have a switch that you can override the alarm so you can start that car but then again it is usually hidden not clearly displayed like this

Thanks Jimithing. I downloaded the Security Systems pdf. nice information there. I intend trying a few instructions to see if I've got tame button in a different color. very useful information you put here. thanks once again.

Try this...

Set the alarm off and wake up your neighbors while you do this. With the alarm going off, get in the 4Runner, press and hold the button and start the 4Runner.

1) the alarm will shut off

if that doesn't work, keep holding the button until something happens (teleport or something)
