Drive side power window issue

Hey guys, I did quite a thorough search for anyone else mentioning this issue but didn't find anything that sound similar.

Before I take apart my door I wanted to throw this out there in hopes I can buy the parts I'll need first.

The problem: The window rolls up and down fine but I can tell it's "loose". When I roll the window up and it comes to the point where it's fully closed, every once and I while it makes a VERY loud pop which is startling and makes me think it's going to shatter the window.

It's almost as if the window doesn't realize it's in the closed position and the power is still being sent to the motor....

Has anyone else ever come across a similar issue.

We've had issues with window glass securing bolts getting loose over time. I've seen this mostly on Sienna's (we have a TSB for it actually), and I've seen it on other brands of vehicles. I don't remember how we did our window regulator set-up for the 4Runner (i.e. cable or lever arm style) but there should be 2 10mm head bolts or nuts that secure the glass to the regulator. I would first check to see if those are loose before ordering any parts.

9x out 10 it's going to be the something with the regulator. I replaced a 4Runner driver side a couple of years ago and just did one on another car last week. Could be as easy as a loose nut and it's jumping around. Or not. Good news is the regulator can be had for under 50 bucks on Amazon. The bad news is the motor is going to run you over $100.

Just never know until you get the panel off and get a look.
