2007 4th gen cruise control problems

Hey, I've tried searching for an answer for this one but most of them are for 3rd gen or below. I just noticed that my cruise control does not work, I can't drive right now to further test it but I will be able to soon. When I hit the on/off button the dash light lights up the word cruise but nothing happens. I've tried turning it on at 55 mph and around 20 or below, no luck. Any ideas? I don't think it's a bad switch as the light still comes on, though I could be wrong. Any help is appreciated.

You don't just push the button, you have to push down to set it and while its set if you push up, the truck speeds up 1mph, push down to slow down 1mph. Cruise control will not set below 25 MPH. Pull back on the stalk to cancel it, and push the button to turn it off. It will automatically disengage if you press the gas or break pedal, and will automatically turn off after shutting the truck off.

I forgot to mention I did that. But let me get this straight, you first press on/off and then you have to either push + or - to set it? I do believe I did that but ill try it again

You press the button on the end and push down to set it. After it is set, if you push up it speeds up 1mph and if you push down it slows 1mph. Pull it back towards you to cancel it, push button to turn it off. If you press the gas or break pedal it was automatically cancel it.

It's all in the owners manual.

Same problem

I just bought a 2006 T4R (V6 4WD SR5 Automatic) and it has the same problem described in the original post. The dashboard "Cruise Control" light comes on but CC fails to engage. I researched how to set the CC including watching a video and setting the CC is pretty similar to other vehicles I have owned; the nut behind the wheel is not the problem. Apparently this is a pretty common problem in previous generations of 4Runners. Are the fixes the same for 4th generation? So far the only thing I have tried was pulling up on the break pedal with my toe. That didn't help.

Do either of you have a check engine light, or any other warning indicators on? If not, I've seen brake pedal switches cause some weird issues with cruise without showing other symptoms of failure.
