Light bulbs inside the running boards
A few months back, I replaced the factory’s weak amber interior lighting with something brighter, but not obnoxious. LED conversion for all reading lights, dome lights, all 4 door entry/step areas, and the cargo dome. I intentionally left the visor lights with the factory’s amber bulbs, but I may change those out in the coming months. Bought them for just under $20 from this vendor.
Right now, however, I want to replace the lights inside my factory running boards, as well as the reverse and license plate lights.
I haven't figured out how to pop open the light cap on the running boards. Would one of you be able to tell me if the bulbs inside it can be replaced with LED? I am thinking of using the LEDs from this seller on Amazon, which also includes tag and reverse lights.
Lastly, both sellers called their LED kits for "interior lighting". Is there any particular reason they couldn't be used as exterior lights inside a running board?

Go with an 8smd t10 bulb, buy a 10pack from Amazon and you'll be set for both the running and tag lights. The round type, with all the LEDs on a circle, and the flat blade t10 connector perpendicular to the led circle. Will fit in everywhere but the dome.

What's the difference between 8-SMD and 5-SMD?

Does anyone know where to get more of the running board sockets? There is some corrosion in mine and it's causing fuses to pop when they are plugged in. I've looked around and can't find anything.

Go to the dealer and get a part number and order it online for half the price. Im not sure of the PN myself but someone might.

I know its a little late, but I just came across this thread as I also had a running board light socket issue too. I searched and searched all the online dealer illustrations and not a single one shows a lighted running board....odd.
Anyway a local dealer (who also could not find an illustration of a lighted running board) ordered me a non led third brake light socket 90075-60059 and it was the exact same socket thats in the running board. Expensive little sucker @ 13.50.

Is that socket a straight or a right angle. I think the P/N is 90075-60005. The straight is 90075-60059.
