pre-purchase under carraige check

I'm a 10yr Jeep freak but thinking of making the jump over to a T4R once I find a buyer for the Jeep. I've been lurking on this site for a couple months and have read what seems like a metric ton of great info.
My Jeep is a highly built rock crawler that will do 70mph down the hwy but I'm looking at the T4R to be a DD/weekend warrior with a whole bunch of attitude!!!
My plan is a King 3" complete kit, 1.5" BL, and (ideally) 35" MT's.

My question to you is once I get the 4Runner up on the car lift, what little under carriage gremlins should I be looking for that would make me walk away from the deal?

Also, besides dealer records and engine bay stickers, is there a way to tell if a timing belt has been changed?

Before you get it up on the rack, drive it and make sure it will go into 4Hi and 4Lo. (Although, if you're only looking at v8's, you'll only need to make sure it goes into 4Lo.) Also make sure the center diff lock works.

No ideas on the timing belt question, I have a V6.

Will do. Thanks for the advice!

Also, everything I've read has pointed me to the SR5 but the Limited is tempting as well. Knowing what I want to do with the suspension upgrades, why would I NOT want the Limited??

Talking Found one!

A beauty came up for sale last week, '06 SR5 with only 140,000 kms, clean carproof, no accidents, insurance claims, theft or liens.

Plus the guy LOVED taking it to Toyota (and paying them for everything...) so it's really well taken care of.

I am in Toyota 4Runner love with it! Definitely the BEST vehicle for our money...

I'm just confused as to why Toyota dropped the HP and Torque ratings after the 2005 model. Doesn't make sense.

I NEED HELP, and can't post a new thread. My son has a 2004 SR5 and we just had new battery cables installed with connectors because the old negative one simple giggled around so much that is broke. I have see the same thing on the 2008 that my other son has. However, now the car starts, but then will just die while driving, or not start, then start for no other reason. We thought it was the after market lights grounding out he put on a year ago, but we disconnected and having the same issue. We have looked at all the connections and don't see any issues, ANY IDEAS.

SAE changed their standards to equalize things. Manufacturers had more leeway to put their own numbers out for HP/torque before. After they had to meet stricter standards.

Are the catalytic converters on a 05 v8 4runner part of the exhaust manifold?
What are my options for replacing the manifold? I live in a non emission county so Ill probably remove the cats all together if its too much of an issue.
Also, can someone direct me to any threads and info regarding the cracked manifold problem?
