What is "the tick" ?
The tick is the exhaust manifold. I did end up buying it tonight. So far what i know it needs is the manifold on the passenger side (I will do both when I do it), a windshield (it has a decently sized crack right in my view), and a drivers front wheel bearing. I actually showed the guy all the stuff it needed and showed him the prices and got the truck for 4k out the door!!!! I couldnt be more pleased. Im guessing bringing my very pregnant wife and adorable 3 year old daughter to the bargaining table could have helped also.

You are correct Sir. I got the vehicle at an even lower price (see above post) and could not be happier with the purchase. Now to get to work on it.

Dude. That's a steal! Great job! There was a group buy going on for the "Premium Version" of the Doug Thorley headers to fix that exhaust manifold but that ended yesterday I think

Am I being dumb for thinking of getting it for that price, with the miles and what it needs?

I looked up the vin and it has always been taken to toyota for service, even oil changes. It has had the timing belt replaced at 197k.

Congratulations I know I am so surprised about the ones I see for sale the amount of miles and the price and here I have one with 150,000 miles on it a 2005 SR5 Toyota racing development and it was stolen And I guess they try to wire it and they cut the wires on my OBDII connect that Powers the truck and starts the battery and all that good stuff so I don't know what to do I am hella pissed and I have full coverage insurance on it for something like this or an accident being it still worth about $7,000 or $8,000 and great condition the new engine so now I've been without a vehicle for 3 months out of work so I'm stuck . The car repair shop that I took it to specialize is an import cars and they did nothing with my vehicle and they charged me for 2 hours of labor they didn't fix a flat tire well you know what their Google review looks like now but I found it myself thanks to this forum and I contacted my insurance again good old State Farm and they told me to take it to Toyota but I cannot afford any more towing it's just a really nasty mess Pre-Purchase Info, Modifications, Write-Ups, Quick Links, and FAQ'sPre-Purchase Info, Modifications, Write-Ups, Quick Links, and FAQ's

You live IN the forest? Like the tent city area? First, all those wires have to be backprobed and verified you got power to each of them. I would def get an electrical diagram for your vehicle, this will be no easy task to do and will be time consuming but it can be fixed.

I’ve always wanted to have a shot of running through electrical stuff but I’m a beginner at best, all I can say is good luck

No I live in a Neighborhood , the wires were messed with at the end where the white receptacle is so I was hoping if I could find the white part or reuse the one I have to rewire it I just need to know what wire goes into where And of course somebody that knows how to put them in there

Abs pump running too often?

One of the first issues I encountered after purchasing my 2003 sport v6 was failure of my ABS motor.
I was able to replace it with a remanufactured part, but I noticed that the brake pump would kick on or cycle every other push of the brakes. General consensus from dealers and technicians is that this is normal.

I plan to post pictures soon.. however please take a look at the air box diagram undermeath the hood of your rig. Located at the back of the airbox filter is a small vaccum hose labeled "pressure regulator"
While completing the hcf delete mod, I noticed that the
Plastic nipple for this regulator was caked completely shut. No vaccum pressure was making its way through this hose.

I tried to push a paperclip through the gunk and ended up busting the plastic hose filing off of the airbox.
I drilled a new hole and screwed in a metal hose filing to replace it.

When i started the rig the abs pump pressurized and maintained pressure even after i pumped the brakes a few dozen times. No longer is the pumping kicking on every other stop and the brakes are much more stiff.

Im calling it a win.

This is such a great sticky. Thoroughly helped me to make an informed decision buying my 2007. I wanted to add a couple of bits of small advice, that I've only noticed since driving it for a while.

1- Engage parking brake and check that it holds on a hill.
This is a pain of a job to potentially fixed and easily missed when you are busy inspecting for bigger issues

2- Sunroof rust around the edge. Open the sunroof and inspect- simple really. If rusty check for blocked drainage holes or use to negotiate a price reduction depending on levels of rust. ( This can also go for trunk window )

3- Drive for a while- I know this sounds silly. But bare with me. I am 6"2 and I have found the driver's seat to become increasingly painful. (I do have a bad back) but this is the only seat to aggravate it. I believe there are some other comments and threads about this issue.

Hi all! Back on the 4runner bandwagon after falling out of love with my Genesis Coupe and needing something more practical. What do you guys think of this deal? $14.5k for a 2008 V8 limited with 104,000 miles:
used 2008 Toyota 4Runner Limited in North Dartmouth, MA | Providence Toyota 4Runner | Toyota of Dartmouth

I have concerns about the XREAS suspension, but I love the Limited with leather and v8. I'm considering reaching out and asking some questions (i.e. timing belt) before making the effort to check out in person and want to be prepared to negotiate if everything checks out. Also, how many of you trust the safety of this vehicle with a potential baby in our future? I know it's built like a tank, but when you tell the wife we are getting a vehicle from 2008 she is a little hesitant.

Sounds more like she is hesitant to get an older vehicle, not with the safety. Safety shouldn't be a concern, it has air bags, antilock bakes, skid control and a bunch of other stuff. It's not like you are getting a vehicle for the '60s, '70s, '80s' or ''90s. It may be a 2008 but it has all the safety features a new vehicle has.

XREAS isn't a big deal as long as it doesn't have the rear ride height option. XREAS is easy to replace with stock suspension which is also way cheaper. If it has the air bag system in the rear for ride height adjustment, that makes this a little more complicated but still totally do-able.

Price wise, that's up to you and what the market is like in your area. $14k might be a good price for your market while it could be low/high for another market. I got my '03 Limited 4wd V8 for $4700 with 280K on it. Runs great too. Do some shopping around and decide if you are willing to travel a little for a better deal.

Thanks for the reply, unfortunately this one sold in just one day and I didn't even have the opportunity to test drive. Feel like I missed a good one. The search continues.
