Dammmmit......I am getting old. Sorry i misread the OP. For some reason i thought you were asking if the '09 step tube will fit a 5th gen.....sorry....
YES, they will fit. i had running boards on my '03 and switched them out for a set of step tubes from an '07. They mounted right up. Just make sure they sent you the 12 bolts for mounting them to the truck itself. Luckily i still had the bolts from my running boards....sorry about the confusion

Hey Momo, how has the painting held up on the step tubes?
I also bought some of the dark gray ones and want to change the color to black.
Not sure if painting or plasti-dip is better?
I'm not a skilled painter...what sort of prep did you do ?
Thanks !

The paint has held up great. I would paint them instead of using Plasti-Dip. The PD wouldn't last very long.
All i did to prep mine was to take off the step pads (2 screws per pad) and end caps, then i washed them with dish washing liquid. The dish washing liquid is good because if cuts through any grease or wax that might be on them. After they were dry i wiped them down with denatured alcohol. Once i had them nice and clean i ran a wire through on of the screw holes in the end of them, so i could hang them up and walk around them as i painted them. At first i had painted mine matte black, but it was going to show every scuff from shoes or anything else that touched them. I ended up painting them with a satin black. That matched the Urban Runner roof rack better anyway. Just make sure not to rush it when painting them. Don't try to get 100% coverage on the first couple coats. Just apply light coats and let it sit between coats. This will give you a better, more durable finish.

Awesome, Tx !
Do you remember how many cans you used? I'm thinking 1 per tube?

I can't remember exactly. Maybe a can and a half. I would just get two cans to start off with.

Thanks, got em all painted up last night, cool dry weather is helping the paint cure pretty fast. They look great, I used some heat/salt resistant suspension/frame paint from the parts store, hopefully fairly durable.
Did any if your tread pad screws rust into the nutcert? My drivers foot pad screws are siezed and the nutcerts just spins.
Any experience removing those and installing new ones?
I'm debating using some vinyl/plastic paint on those tread pads, probably a bad idea... They're in pretty bad shape though.
Thanks for any thoughts on the question above !
