Hey guys I have a 2005 V6 Sport with 227k. Just found a set of 2018 trd off road fronts and rears for $125 I'm picking up this weekend. Was told he swapped them out with just under 20k so should be a world's difference to my old Xreas.
Anyways I'm hoping the front will net me closer to 1.5 to 2inches. With that said I don't mind the stock rake but want a little less. I can't find any FJ rears I do already have a 1.5 spacer in a box. I have a minor pull out table and bike fork mount rack system in the rear with some tools like small air compressor, jumper cables and ratchet set(sometimes cordless impact). Not certain how much this all weighs and if it really makes my rear sag but this is all constant weight for the most part. Occasionally take out the bike mount part.
I do pull a small 5x8 utility trailer I converted into a camper almost 3 days a week to every other week. This I guess is the biggest variable for me.
Should I get a 1.5inch rear spring like the t12 or I saw deal on dobinsons c59-505? Do I look for 1inch spring? Or keep my old stock spring and throw the 1.5 spacer? Or no spacer and keep stock rear.
On another note I already have 265/70r17 now but am looking to go 255/75r17 or 275/70r17
Any input helps. Thanks

I just installed the same 3rd gen Tacoma TRD setup in the front of my 168k mile 2006 V6 SR5 the other day, and I am super happy with it. My suspension was sagging for sure, so I actually gained right at 3" lift. It is dead even with the rear now, which is still stock, but I do have the .5" driver side lean LOL. I am leaning towards the OME 895e springs for the rear with the Tacoma Bilstein shocks that I got, and from research and even talking to Toytec this should get me about 1.5-2" lift in back. I also carry about 100lbs around in the trunk normally, and occasionally tow a jetski or small trailer, so I think it will give a slight rake and handle the load fine. Pics below so you can see the difference in just the front.

Hi there, lots of great info here. I've learn a lot and think i have a grasp on what I need but just wanted to verify and get second opinions from the experts!
I have a 4WD Limited V6 220k miles. Shocks need to be replaced obviously. I've purchased the follow for the new setup:
-OME 895e Rear springs
-2017 Tacoma TRD Offroad front shocks and springs and rear shocks
-2017 Tacoma TRD Offroad front UCA's
-1" front spacers
I know I need to get rear lower bushings for the the rear shocks (Energy Suspension 9.8108G).
Would you happen to know what the ending lift would be? I am completely new to suspension and this is all the info I've gathered. I appreciate any and all feedback from you guys/gals!

Should end up with 3-3.25 front and 2 in rear

I never really understood these types of swaps, I mean in this case, those shocks are designed for the tacoma, not the heaver 4runner, my feeling is, Just because it fits, doesnt mean you should do it, lol.
I may be missing something, nut if you're doing to save a few bucks thats one thing, but I personallly would rather use what was designed and tested for my vehicle.

These swaps are the best bang for the buck. Not much difference in the weight of a Tacoma versus a 4 runner. A little more for the V8. I bought a 2016 TRD suspension with 4k miles on it for $100 and the improvement was substantial. I am a self made entrepreneur and can afford any suspension available in the market but my knowledge and intelligence leads me to this economical and smart alternative. I am not making a Baja vehicle and i am more than happy with my selection on my 4Runner. It drives great and i am more than satisfied. I spent more than 3K on my suspension on my 3500 Dodge and i think i wasted a lot of money.

@ T4R4Brando
thanks bud, can't wait for the rear springs!
@ 04rnr
I can totally understand that as well but in speaking with T4R4Brando it definitely seems like the best bang for your buck. I too am very rarely going to be off-roading but am doing this as i need new shocks anyways (225k miles) so I figured why not go this route to save money as well.
That sounds like it's going to be a great lift
@ T4R4Brando
. Did my list look ok? I know we spoke but I wanted to make sure I had everything before I took the car in to get all the parts installed. Thanks for the insight guys!

Okay dumb dumb question time.
I got my set from a guys garage in a box and all I had to do was give him a case of beer
My problem (and after hours of searching yielded no return) is which side is which when it comes to the front springs

Red and green dot is driver’s side, red and blue dot is passenger. Not a dumb question, as it fixes the “driver’s side lean” issue.

This just made me go out and check mine that I installed a month or so ago, and I have them as you said but I still have the damn lean of about a half inch on the driver's side.

So I recently picked up an '07 V8 limited w/ 159k on it. Rides nice but I have to do the front sway bar bushings. I had started looking into the Bilstein 5100's and came across a guy about 2 hrs from me selling a Tacoma TRD setup for $100 that had 25k miles on it. I won't be able to get out there to him for another week or so and they may be gone by then. Another guy only about 20mins away is selling same set from a '17 Tacoma TRD that was removed when it had 5700 mi on it for $140. I don't plan on doing any real wheeling, just using it as a winter DD and a handful of beach days in the summer so a small lift would be nice. Is it worth the extra $40 to secure a lower mile set? I'm not even sure what they're worth in the 1st place. Or is there no comparison w/ the 5100's?

I would grab that for $140 if you can for sure! I rode in a couple 4Runners with 5100's and 2-3" lift springs (Toytec and Eibach I believe) and they rode very similar to my TRD Tacoma setup. If the guy you are buying them from left the fronts assembled, then it is such an easy swap also. You may still have to get rear springs or spacers to avoid having a higher front rake, but you would have to do that either way. No aftermarket UCA's needed either to keep alignment in spec, so that saves some money. I'm super happy with the lift, ride and value I got just from the TRD fronts, and my driving is also DD with the occasional beach or trail roads and not much wheeling.
