Install Update

Just got my 2006 SE V6 4x4 back from the shop with a Tacoma suspension swap. Front struts and rear shocks from a 2014 Tacoma TRD Sport 4x4 with rear coils from a 2014 FJ. My XREAS must have been beyond toast because the ride is like new. It is very level with about 1.5 in the front and .5 in the back. I am still considering the sway bar bushings upgrade but am a little hesitant here in Minnesota, not sure how those will feel in -30 degree drives. Can't thank you guys enough for all of the great info. Also did the HCF delete and AFE dry filter. My truck is running smoother then it has in years. 140000 on the clock with no major issues now that the suspension has been renewed. Next up is the spidertrax wheel adapters for a wider stance.

Are you guys using Tacoma TRD Off Road or TRD Sport springs? They are different. Off Road springs are progressive while the Sport springs are linear.

And to be clear.. Using the Tacoma stock shocks and spring yields a 1" gain in height with a firmer ride?

My 4Runner has 170k on the original suspension.. I want to raise the front just a little bit ~3/4 to 1" and loose the wishy washy feeling (worn shocks I'm sure).

Would using the stock rear springs with Taco front springs (new shocks all around) be a bad idea?

if used with low miles i would say go for it if the price is right. i should lift about an inch. i have yet to install mine but from what i can tell it will be an inch lift with tacoma shocks or 5100's

You can run the Tacoma with stock rears just fine. Going for FJ would yield little difference in ride or height gain in the rear.

I've got a busy weekend ahead of me. I've also got some FJ rear springs I could pickup locally. I'll wait until I do the fronts and see what she looks like.

Ok I have a question I have Tacoma TRD sport springs and FJ rear springs with 5100 what do I need to set the front 5100 on to level it? I wouldn't mind if the rear was a little high

im putting mine on my truck in the next week or so and i have mine set at .85 with the progressive springs. it should be around 2 inches of lift in the front and half to one inch in the rear

Could you run the Taco front springs and shocks with the daystar 2.5 spacer? I am thinking this would get you 3.5-4" of lift? Then run super flex rear springs and do the 1.5 rear spacer on the driver side only like many do to level it out.

Does this sound like it would work or is this too much lift? Should I do the front diff drop? I will replace the passenger side CV with the red boot CV from CJV.

I just finished doing this about 10 minutes ago. I went from FJ springs and shocks to Tacoma springer and shocks in the front with 2.5 daystar and FJ coil with daystar, and Tacoma shocks in the rear. Doesn't seem to have given me any more lift in the front than before.

So didn't give you any more lift than over stock with the daystar spacers? Or over the FJ springs?

Did/do you have any issues with the CVs or alignments with both the fjt/taco springs and the 2.5 spacers up front? Any pics?

Thanks!

No noticeable difference over the FJ springs and daystar spacers.

I havent gotten it aligned yet and Im 2wd so I cant comment on that yet. It will be going to the shop for alignment in the morning.

At the moment Im still trying to press the bushing out of the rear tacoma shocks.

Anyone figure out how to press the bushings out of the rear shocks? I ordered the new ones but can't get the originals out.

19 & 26mm sockets, threaded rod and some nuts and washers...and a vise helps.
