Spoiler LED Brake Light Intermittently Working

The center LED stop light on my spoiler is intermittently working. Brake lights on the taillights work just fine. One moment the spoiler light works, and the next it doesn't. I checked the fuse, and it is good. Maybe I'll change it anyway.

There aren't two switches for the taillights and the center top mount light, is there? Anyone have an idea where I should start with figuring this out?

Thanks

More than likely you have a bad solder joint on the pcb itself. On the LED factory spoiler, the LED assembly is all one unit. Someone also had the problem; they took it apart, discovered a bad solder joint, repaired it, and made a post about it. Heck if I can find that post anymore; thought I had it bookmarked. The person removed it from the spoiler, cut or melted the adhesive holding the lens onto to the assembly, and then found/resoldered a bad solder joint at one of wires attached to the pcb. I think I read about another situation similar where one of the LEDs had a bad solder joint too. It's a lot of work anyways; the assembly is glued together, etc, etc, etc. Easier to just go buy another one unless you have the right mind to fix it yourself.

Here's a link that talks about it a little:

high mount stop light in spoiler

You have to read the whole thread because they talk about the two different 3rd brake lights.

Edit: As I recall, several people have mentioned having the same problem with the LED 3rd brake light. It seems to a common issue with the factory spoiler LED 3rd brake light.

The line taps?

@R.A. ... I appreciate the advice. However, before I took the whole thing apart I tried something... While the light was working yesterday, I had my wife tap on and around the light as I pressed the brake. It didn't flicker or go out at all. Any other thoughts?

An intermittent problem is hard to diagnose. I suggested what I thought it might be. Don't have any other clues though.

Just followed the wife home tonight and see that my 3rd high stop brake light also doesn't work half the time? Anyone know of a cheap place to get a replacement?

LED center stop lamp replacement

I'd like to replace my 3rd stop lamp with an aftermarket LED assembly. I've had zero luck finding a place to purchase one online. Any suggestions?
