Heading to Pep Boys, opinions on first mod...
I'm going over soon, wondering if anyone has an opinion on what my first mod should be? I could do lights, wipers, interior lights, or something else. Any opinions? Trying to spend under 100.

Pepboys had some real nice refrigerators and paddle boats last time I went by. WTF? Who goes to pepboys to buy that crap? They didn't have my air filter, but they had a big tub of cashews.
Good luck with your trip to Pepboys. No telling what kind of mod you will end up with.

I knew that was Chrome Exhaust tip for 4Runner. I saw that earlier, but seems it was removed from eBay. You can try a search in eBay or, as Koz said, go to stealership for one if you decide to spend your money that way.

From Pep-boys you can get the deflecta-shields for the windows. At least they had them for my 02. Then go to the dealer and get a wind deflector for the front.

Yeah I don't really think of Pep Boys as a good place to buy "mods". Unless you have a Honda Civic and need some pedals and a shifter knob.

Where is good to go then? Online? If so, what site? Also, what do you guys think of the chrome 4runner license plate frames?

I agree with KoZ. Get the exhaust tip. Although mine was already factory installed, I just can't imagine my runner without it. Sure it's not functional but it sure looks damn nice. Now everytime a see a fellow runner on the road without a tip, they seem a little naked to me.
A Go Rhino rear hitch step and hitch lock (about $70-$140 depending where and what finish).
Convex mirrors
Front skid plate
Door sill accents
Bug deflector/hood protector
The lists goes on and on. They were right about one thing when you join this forum - you WILL spend money.
About the license plate frames - unless you have debadged your rear hatch I think it is a little silly to see "4Runner" on a license plate frame while the rear right badge already says "4Runner" at the same time. I laugh everytime I see this (on all cars actually not just 4Runners). I think it is redundant in a silly way. It only looks good if you have a debadged rear since the model name of the vehicle is already on the license plate frame. Having two instances of it just looks silly to me. But to each his own. Just my 2 cents.

Toyota OEM stuff can be bought at partznet.com (tip, mats, ashtray, homelink, skid plate)
I bought my bulbs at Walmart.
Syn oil at Pepboys or you can buy Amsoil from Boaz (site member)

Ok everyone, I bought the Valor Exhaust Tip and the OBX Racking Pedals to start. Once I get them, I may ask how to install if they aren't self-explanatory. I'm very excited to start modding, and I know this is just the beginning. I'm still thinking about hard wiring my ipod, but i won't do it unless it will look beautiful and professional.

chrisw427,
Be sure to post your iPod mod. I'd love to see how it turns out. I've been also looking for a way to connect my iPod as well to the stock radio without any visible wires. I hear the iPod FM transmitters don't work so well either.
The valor tip just slips over your tail pipe and bolts on with a clamp. The obx pedals simply slip over your existing gas pedal while the brake pedal pad is actually replaced.
Either way, good luck with the mods.
