CrimsonCountry's '06 SE Build...

Well, considering i'm nearly done with my build (famous last words), I figured it would be a great time to finally do a build thread. My truck has been through many different looks (mainly in wheels/tires) throughout the past couple of years. Also, you'll notice the running boards appearing/disappearing throughout my build thanks to my constant need to change things up. Ha. I'll make it prettier and add more info later (don't feel like typing much now) but I just wanted to get the initial pictures on here. Get ready for major 4runner photo whoring

Stock w/ 265/70/17 highway tires. This is the closest to stock picture I have as it had these tires on it when I bought it.

Next came the 265/70/17 Hankook Dynapro ATMs.

Next up is the Bilstein 5100/OME 884 combo. Initially, this gave me much more of a lift than I expected but it eventually settled down to around 3-3.5" of lift. I ended up selling this to a member on here.

I then picked up a set of 18x8 set of FJ Enkei wheels from a friend along with 285/60/18 Cooper Zeon LTZs. I loved these tires but got tired of the wheels so I sold them as well.

However, before selling them, I decided to paint them black...

I then moved up to the 285/70 STTs with FJ wheels:

Continued...

And finally, I sold the OME/5100 setup for a used set of DR 2.5" coilovers, Level 8 Guardians, and Lr UCAs. The coilovers were cranked really high but have since been lowered down to around 3-3.5" of lift.:

Way up at 40.5" in front with no BL (rode like a log truck with no down travel left)

Now lowered (perfect stance IMO)...

Thanks guys. I know, I could've/should've made one a long time ago I guess but I've just been too lazy. This thread will by no means be as exciting as most but I just wanted to contribute just in case anybody wanted to do the same. Currently, this thread is basically my signature information with a lot of pictures. I wish I had more "action" shots but i'm rarely in a position to while driving and never seem to have any photographer friends around when I need them.

Awesome man. I'm glad you're still liking them but you should like the 885s too. Are you going to try them the same way (pre-loaded by the 5100s) or run them as is (no preload)? It seems like it would be too much lift if doing the former.

Ha thanks Chris. I'm pretty happy with it so far but already wondering what they would look like in a graphite color.

i think im going to stick with the preload being as im adding a bumper and winch but its all depending on the height after the bumper. i like the height perfect right now so i dont want to lose any and its near the max so dont want to gain any either lol

I don't think i've ever seen the 885s preloaded but maybe the extra weight will bring it down to the 884's level.

I havent either but from what i read they are same spring just 10mm taller and thats how much height im expecting to lose from the bumper so i think ill be ok. Ill be installing it all on the same day so i can adjust if i need to preload or not

That's true. It won't be too much work to change them out if it is too much. However, if you're like me, I like to use the wall-mounted spring compressor as little as possible.

So, in the spirit of my ever-changing tire/wheel combos, I decided to get rid of my Cooper STTs while they were still new-ish and switch to an AT for better DD'ing. After much research/debate, I decided to go with the Toyo AT IIs. They seem to have excellent reviews so far and I really like the 65k mileage warranty on the P-rated version so I went that way. Of course they look a little more tame than the STTs but the on-road ride is so much better/quieter and my MPG shot back up another 1-1.5 or so (now 18+ MPG). I think they look great for an AT though. We'll see how long they last but i'm hoping for a long life.
