I am a new 4R owner and I love it, but was looking for some more storage space as well! I found your post and loved it so i took on the project.
I used your same concepts of hinged front top, rear cubby, and sliding drawers. I used the
piano hinge instead of the multiple, and added some magnetic closures (
nametag magnets) to keep it from rattling and secured them with some wood glue. Used the
20'' drawer sliders too. Loving it so far, bought some
Rockler Drawer Divider Holders to run some plywood across the drawer sections to keep things tight.
Wood is 3/4'' pine and 1/2'' pine, used some wood glue and self-tapping wood screws (pre-drilled everything).
Thanks again for the inspiration and mine definitely isn't up to specs but was my first wood project and am excited for it's capabilities.
Cheers
