2004 V6 head gasket issue?

I am having problems with my 2004 v6 95,000 miles, idling very low when stopped.
I have read about the head gasket issues that this engine has frequently
had. I am not getting the check engine light and I don't have any leaks. I am
Not losing any coolant.

About two months ago my rear hatch locked up and I got it open by disconnecting my battery. This is when the idling issue began. I have tried
disconnecting my battery again, but this hasn't helped. Although my rear hatch is stuck again. Is there anything I should look at before bringing to a mechanic
asking about a head gasket?

Have you had the codes read to determine what's causing the check-engine light??

I don't know how you came to the conclusion this is a head gasket problem. Unless you're not telling us something....at this point you have no idea what the problem is. And from the limited information so far...it doesn't sound like a head gasket problem.

Drive the vehicle about 50~100miles before you do anything else. You've reset the memory by disconnecting the battery and the vehicle will idle poorly and drive rough until it relearns the parameters.

After you've ruled out the memory, we'll need more information on the issue.

~Does the vehicle Surge?
~Does the temp vary?
~Do you have white smoke on start-up after letting it sit a while?
~How does the oil look?
~Have you checked for pending DTCs?
~Does it misfire?

To Check for a head gasket there are two main tests that you should do.

1 - Pregnancy Test (tests for combustion chamber gases in your coolant)
2 - Compression Test. If you pass both of these the likelyhood of you having a blown head gasket is slim to none in my opinion.

you should also pull the spark plugs one by one and see if you have any that are "wet"

I believe that you haven't properly reset the idle after unhooking the battery. If you look it up in the service manual it actually asks for you to stop.. floor the throttle till it shifts and come back to a stop. Do this twice in a row and then dive it for a little bit. Mine idled at 250-300 rpm until it came around slowly and settled at 550rpm at a nice smooth idle.

IF you haven't unplugged the battery lately and it runs smoothly once you hit the throttle, dont forget that a bad spark plug will cause this same issue but without more information it would be an unknown.
