V8 Starter Replacement

I was reading thru some OLD posts and came across one abut the starter on the V8. Alot of folks were very upset about it being under the intake manifold. I kept telling these guys to relax in the fact that Toyota starters are pretty robust. Have we seen many go out on here? I took a break from this site for several years.

They don't go out often, I think so far I've heard one or two members mention they had to change them out.

When I'm at home in my garage with all the tools I need I won't be too upset with the starter location. Its when I'm stuck somewhere and want to give it a couple love taps to free it up and get me home is when I'm going to be cursing, especially with the automatic tranny...no push starting that bad boy, without a starter shes dead in the water.

Been wondering about this way back when I had my first car with a TCC...torque converter clutch...solenoid.

Wonder if you can 'hot wire' it...to engage it...lock the drive train and start the vehicle. Like in the olden days of manual transmissions...

So, get a rolling start...'hot wire' the TCC to engage it...get the engine started and drive off.

Would it work???
