i was on the thule web site and saw that i could mount some bike racks to the stock cross bars on my 04. anyone have any thoughts? is it worth it to get thule's cross bars? would anyone recommend the aero vs the square tubing?

I have a 2004 Sport and a bought the Thule racks you are describing and they are still in my garage because they look way too flimsy for my needs.... But, Then again, I regularly put 2 canoes on top... Or a canoe and 2 bikes... Or a cargo carrier and whatever.... If the only thing I were transporting were relatively lightweight bikes, I probably would have used the model you are describing. I chose to go with the heavy duty load bases that strap quite strongly on the rails and then I use the square cross bars in various lengths, depending on what I am carrying.

The set up I use has been quite reliable and even though I have, on occasion, exceeded specified and recommended loads, they have never let me down.
