Hello! I'm curious about these, specifically how do they manage to improve MPG?

I would guess for the same reason they give more power, it helps to better evacuate the combustion chamber of gasses. More efficient combustion process.

That's what I was guessing, but part of me assumes the O2 sensor would adjust for that accordingly, no?

I would guess (again) that the o2 sensor sees the air/fuel ratio, and doesn't care how much air/fuel passes by. Therefore the o2 sensor should have no idea the engine has DT headers.
Technically with less efficient evacuation of gases, the gas still has to pass by the o2 sensor at some point, its just doing so more slowly. So technically the sensor still reads all the gases it would before, its just flying by faster.
That's just my explanation, I'm not an engine nerd hopefully someone else can chime in.

So, maybe I'm an anomaly, but I haven't seen a MPG improvement. It feels like it the motor doesn't have to work as hard, and it sounds great and such. But after DT longtubes, Y-pipe and free flowing catback, I'm still averaging 14.4-14.7mpg each tank like I was before install..

Interesting. I'd suspect something else is affecting it. Mine only rose a little, but just went on a roadtrip and got 19.1 MPG, normally 18.3 for that drive. Average speed was probably around 70.

Do the headers suffer from the cracking on #1 cylinder just like the stock manifolds??? I replaced my manifolds and got a little over a year before they cracked. I don't want to keep doing it again and again. Thanks.

Have never heard of it. I studied header threads for close to a year and a half before I pulled the trigger on buying mine. I just re-torqued them after about 1500 miles and could only get an 1/8 to 1/4 turn on a few of the fasteners. It seems both sides are seated well and breaking in nicely. Thorley uses pretty good gaskets which hopefully will help dampen any vibration stress as well. Haven't noticed any ticking in the engine bay either, as far as cracking of the headers. I guess anything is possible, but highly unlikely.

Yeah, I'm not sure what. All fluids replaced replaced with Amsoil or Redline Oils, full stainless exhaust, and my lift is mild (1.5" front, 1/2" rear) to fit 32" Fallen ATs. New front calipers didn't fix it either.
Unless torn CV boots will hurt MPG. Have new ones sitting in the garage.

Hmmm, I wouldn't think torn boots would affect MPG too much...maybe .1 or .2, but even then I wouldn't know for sure. To get the basic stuff out of the way, when was the last time you checked your air filter or did your spark plugs? It may be worth it to clean the MAF as well to eliminate that. Are your tires properly inflated? Any signs of a wheel bearing going out? That dropped my MPG a solid 1-1.5 MPG until I fixed it.
I was skeptical of the MPG gain when purchasing these, but settled on the fact that if I had any it would just be an added bonus. Definitely not a pickup of 2 MPG, but like I said, I did have some marginal gain.

Yeah, I wasnt banking on the MPG gain, but added bonus as well.
MAF and TB cleaned, filters, fluids all synthetic, air pressure in new tires up to 35, OEM plugs done, been through all of it.. no hum or any signs of bearing failure.
Not really sure. Thought it was winter gas too, but hasn't improved. All mpg hand calculated off mileage (correcting for tire size) and same Shell pump. Lol.

Anyone here have a audio visual of the result of DT headers of a 4.7V8?
