Time for a new battery

Well it has been a good run; 2004-2013 on the factory Panasonic battery.!Noticed today the light is out on the battery so I assume it won't be long before it doesn't have enough juice to start the 4runner. Probably the drive in movies as of late that lead to it's demise...
Started shopping around and of course reading what people are running on the forum and the consensus seems to be either a DieHard platinum, Odyssey (same as DieHard) ar an Optima yellow top.
So I called around to see who has what for batteries and warranties and found some interesting info.
Sears only carries a DieHard Gold with a 36mo. warranty. There is no platinums in a group 27F only a marine.
Batteries Plus who carries Odyssey said DO NOT buy Odyssey as they recently moved production to Mexico and they have had nothing but failures since. Instead they recommend the new X2 with a 60mo. free replacement.
As for Optima I'm torn as it seems everyone either loves them or hates them.
Lastly I figure I really can't go wrong with an Interstate as they have a 30mo. free replacement and 5yr. pro-rated replacement.

Wondering if anyone runs the Toyota parts store replacement?

I put Interstate batteries in every vehicle I own and have been doing so for about 10 years.

I may pay a bit more, but I've never been stranded and none of the trucks have ever failed to start.

I'm running the Toyota TruStart. Got a great deal on it when it was on sale. I believe it has a 7 year warranty too.

You can squeeze a group 31 die hard platinum in there. Optima is shit now after they moved to Mexico. I didn't know odyssey did as well what a bummer. Go with a die hard platinum.

Are you sure they said oddysea and not Optima? Optima moved production to Mexico and the quality seemed to change. Oddysea still have an excellent reputation.

The sears platinum (made by oddysea) is an excellent option.

Duracell offers a AGM model made by Penn which is another quality affordable option. I am running 2 of these right now.

Don't waste your money. I bought a Duralast Gold for just a little over $100 and it has a better CA rating, better CCA rating, and better reserve rating than ANY other battery I could find, plus it's got a 3 year free replacement/6 year pro-rated warranty. You can drop $300 on a fancy battery that does less, but why?

Still going strong with my '04 battery. When I replace it will be with a Kirkland from Costco. One of the best rated batteries out there with a great warranty and less $$$ too.

I was checking prices at the Costco by my house and talking to the guy in the tire/battery section and he told me the Kirkland's are made by Interstate. Just an FYI.

Toyota TruStart lasted a short time, couple weeks, for me.
No way to make a warranty claim since I had driven far from any dealers.
Replaced with a good NAPA and still happy a couple years later...

I went to the costco on Renassiance in Albuequrque and they didn't have a battery for my 2006 SR5. Got an interstate instead

Probably why they are so good and also less expensive than Interstate which may be why they are rated so high.

Which TruStart did you get? I got the better one because it was on sale. Hasn't missed a beat in the year I've had it.
