As Riceandpho said, use the Metra 95-8202 kit if you have an SR5 with the base radio. Use the factory brackets with the kit and it is nice and solid.
Here's mine

Yeah the use of the factory brackets makes it nice.
Oh, I like the dust cover btw. I've had a couple made for my "toys". lol

your radio kit is the metra 95-8202 kit, just have the side gap covers. it works really good when done right. scosche and american international and bestkits uses the similar stuff, but will show the sides of radio more.

Is the 95-8202 the one that replaces the factory brackets? I have a non JBL SR5 that currently has a single DIN Pioneer that was installed before I bought the truck. I haven’t taken it apart yet, but based on what I’ve read on this forum, I will need to source factory brackets when I buy a double DIN, but with certain kits, I know you don’t need them. For example, I just installed a Sony XAV-AX1000 in my daughter’s ‘03 Camry (which had JBL), and used Metra 99-8231, which had its own plastic brackets that clipped onto the front filler piece. It installed perfectly, but was a real pain because the factory bracket screws wouldn’t work with the Sony, and the screws that came with the kit wouldn’t either. I had to source some different self tapping screws to make it work, which delayed the install a bit, but then it dropped in and fit perfectly. Sorry for the long story, but I just want to be sure I don’t waste time and money ordering factory brackets only to find out that the install kit doesn’t need them.
Edit: never mind, I just got my answer above. I guess I should’ve read the whole thread before asking about the brackets.

99-8300 kit for 25-30 bucks, or source the factory radio brackets to use the 95-8202.

I just grounded mine, it just bypasses the whole parking brake switch needed to be depressed to play. It’s the lime green wire rolled up and grounded the the bolt on the left side of the face.

Do yourself a favor and just ground that wire unless you want to make changes on your radio ONLY when the parking brake is engaged.

Recently installed a Pioneer AVH-2550NEX DVD unit and grounding that light green parking brake wire did not work. Ended up purchasing this DIY Parking Brake Bypass from ebay to get the override to work correctly. Super easy to install while installing a new head unit...

Was considering ordering today or next few.
Hmmmm, interesting and good to know on the newer units, mine works fine grounding the PB wire but is an older unit. Guess I’ll have to order a bypass myself then.

So should I use a toggle? Or just ground it?
