Cat Converter Scrap Value?

Gents,

I recently had to replace my drivers side manifold converter. This leaves me with a hunk of steel, which I assume is worth some money.

Has any brought their used converter to a scrap yard? I'm looking for a ballpark of what it could be worth.

Thanks.

We had a lot lot of them stolen recently and as I recall they might have gotten $30 per cat.

I don't know if this is even comparable, but there was a vender on LS1tech that was buying all used cats for $125 a while back. I'm not sure what the price of scrap has done since, but this was within the last 2 months.

They were most likely gutting them and selling them as aftermarket knock-off cats to pass inspection, or selling them as a "hi-flow" cat. The price for just the scrap is probably around the $30 - $50 like another poster put.

I just got $65 for the drivers side off mine. Basically made my Pacesetter purchase about $170. Woohoo!
