Creaking / popping drivers seat.

The front drivers seat started to creak and almost pop under moderate acceleration. I checked the whole seat over and nothing pops out as wrong. Any one else have this issue?

You know what's funny. My 08 driver's seat used to rattle under breaking and move about on the frame. Toyota replaced it under warranty and said it was $3000+ in the paperwork.

But since they replaced it, the new one has been crackling and creaking non-stop. It is so annoying, but I haven't had time to go back in and spend a day with the shop idiots at the stealership.

I have this too on my '08. I thought it was from the lumbar support because it happens to me while turning. Drives me crazy.

I know @Rigliner had dealt with this in the past. Toyota replaced his under warranty and it wasn't long and the creak was back. He was out of warranty this time and Toyota refused to acknowledge a problem. We checked the weld and it wasn't broken. We ended up tracking it down to the rear inner mount. We were able to spray some white silicone grease on the track/mount and it resolved the issue at least temporarily. It's been about a month and no more noise.

My '08 T4R Limited had the same issue a few years ago. I had the Toyota regional service engineer look at it with me and we found that the noise was coming from one of the rivets on the seat rail. We hit it with a little bit of WD40 and that solved the issue for me. I've had to hit again once or twice, but I have not had any noise in a couple of years now. I hope this helps; I know how annoying it was. One of the guys in the dealership service department actually told me to just turn up the radio so I couldn't hear it...I wanted to smack him for that.

Same here '04 model, dealer replaced it while under warranty but new one started doing it after a while. My dealer told me Toyota was aware of the complaint but had no action plan to resolve it. I guess I just got used to it after a while and not I don't notice it.

I had this problem in my '05 4Runner, my '08 Tundra, and now my '07 4Runner. After a while you get used to it. I'm not convinced there is a solid fix for it.

My drivers seat actually moves under acceleration. I can feel it kind of dip in the rear/right while accelerating. It squeaks pretty good too. I am going to pull the whole seat one of these days and have a closer look.

you dont even need to remove the seat to check out if the weld had broken.

*go to behind the seat from the drivers rear door.
*reach under it and unclip the flap for the top portion of the seat to expose what you see in the picture below
*this bar outlined with the red line is leading up to the area in the yellow circle
* area in the yeloow circle is where my weld broke

FYI: my chair dipped to the right side. so the left weld is broken. if yours dipps to the left side then the right weld is broken.

sqeaking, rocking creaking. just annoying!
