Dealer Maintenance Progam??

My dealer offers this maintenance program for $875 (for me it would be $810...credit for the floor mats).

Any comments would be helpful!

Lifetime oil changes,(as per manual specs or more if you
wish). You'll never pay for oil or labor, the oil filter is
extra.

Lubrication, all ball joints, grease fittings & movable
body hinges as recommended by the
manufacturer.

Color keyed floor mats (credit back if they are supplied
with your vehicle.)

Paint sealant. Close all open pores in the clearcoat to
keep your vehicle looking showroom fresh.

Semi annual safety inspections at no charge. 5% discount on
parts and labor of several items.

Tire inspection-rotation and balancing at no charge

VA & MD pre-state inspections

4-season inspection

Car wash-each time you bring your vehicle in for service.
You need to ask for it to be washed.

Annual reconditioning never to cost over $75.00-complete
engine cleaning, shampoo interior including seats and floors,
hand polish exterior

30% discount on any car rental

5% discount on body shop, parts, tires.

Plan can be transferred to new owner at no charge.

It sounds like a good deal.

The only concern is are you going to have the dealership maintain everything for you? If so, this sounds like a steal. Just the lifetime oil changes sounds nice (for 810 you can get about 25 oil changes @ 32 a pop). Paint sealant, Acura wanted to charge my sister 299, and I worked at a car wash before that charged 99.99 for their sealtek paint sealant. and the annual reconditioning itself sounds like a great deal as well (youd end up saving about 50 dollars per visit) but your car would look so much better!

I think you would be a fool not too, thats assuming you can remember to go into the dealership all the time.

just my 2cents.

I say negotiate for a set dollar value for lifetime oil changes. i.e. $200 for lifetime oil changes guaranteed every 3K miles in my opinion is fair and reasonable.

Everything else can and should be bought at an "as needed basis."

Remember, trying to buy service in the future is a difficult thing to calculate today. I'd rather put your capital dollars towards an extended warranty (mechanical) vs. basic maintenance.

Also, you can utilize this forum for basic maintenance and in the accessories forum, you can get advice/pictures for equipment and parts that best fit your needs/likes and wants.

Also, there's nothing better than getting satisfaction for the $ spent.

It sounds like if you plan to keep this vehicle for more than 2 and half years, this maintenance program would pay for itself.

Not for me either.........you dont want this. Trust me, if a dealership offers this it certainly will not "pay for itself" and you will end up spending more than it will ever be worth. You should no better. Any jack ass can go in to parts and get a 5% discount.
1.As soon as you get new tires (you will want to soon) they will have lifetime balance and rotation from the tire store
2.The paint sealant is one of the oldest dealer tricks......do you think that Toyota would not seal their paint? Seriously.
3.The oil change sounds ok, but if you wanted to keep your truck long enough for it to pay off you will want to either use Mobil 1 or change it more frequently than the 7500 mile intervals.
4.I am not being hard on you, but remember that a dealer will always want to make money off of you, and they would never set up a program like this if they were going to lose.
