Looking for a 2004/2005 4Runner Sport Edition V8 4x4 in Stratosphere Mica

Okay so I have a 1999 Chevy Blazer right now that I'm hoping to sell soon and I want to buy a 2004 or 2005 Toyota 4Runner Sport Edition V8 4x4 in the Stratosphere Mica (Dark Blue) color with the Hood Scoop and Sunroof. But here's the issue, I can't find one with the exact specs I'm looking for. I know they're out there but why is this SUV so hard to find?! It's frustrating trying to find one. I recently found one in Houston, Tx on Craigslist for $10k with 123k miles on it, it was a beauty, but after I emailed the guy and he emailed back it was already sold in 2 days. It was gone that fast, I take it that this is a truck that's on everyone's wish list to find isn't it? I had a used car dealer tell me that I'm searching for a needle in a haystack. Is this version of 4Runner really that rare? I keep searching Autotrader.com and a ton of other websites even used dealerships around here in Biloxi, MS and I always find the car but it has either the V6 engine with the 4WD or the V8 with 2WD, never the V8 with 4WD or with the Hood Scoop. Please if anyone knows of one or has one for sale within a radius of 700 miles of Biloxi MS, please let me know.

Btw I love this forum! Can't wait to finally find my 4Runner when I do!

Not a needle in a haystack, but it might take a few months to find the one that is right for you.

Are you hellbent on getting a V8? You'll want to make sure the timing belt has been replaced before you buy one in that age-range.

V6 has a timing chain so you wouldn't need to worry about this.

If you find a limited/sr5, with those specs (All but the hood scoop of course), you can just buy a sport hood, aftermarket or OEM.

I have one Im looking to get rid of. But I will probably be trading it in. The frame has some rust and its making me nervous. But its a a 04 Sport, V8, 4WD, with 150,000 but has ALWAYS been dealer serviced and is in pretty good condition.

I'd rather do the timing belt every 90K than have the head gasket issue that is rampant on the V6 and apparently can cost more to repair than doing the T-belt job, but maybe that's just me.

OP...have you tried AutoTrader? On that site you can pick your options and it'll show you everything that matches exactly within a certain radius of your zip code. Might give that a shot.

OP, It took me 2 months to find "the perfect" 4Runner. I looked in other provinces hell bent on getting a Sport Edition V8 4x4 like yourself. All along, it was in the same city as I am. Be patient, the right one will come along! I am very happy with my 2006 Sport Edition V8 4x4

Took me about 3 months to find my perfectly configured T4R. I drove 6 hours to pick mine up. I would expand your search from 04 - 05 model year to 06 - 09, this will at least help you find a truck with the config you're looking for, and possibly with lower miles. Good luck!
