Holding My Breath

I put a deposit on a 2006 Limited V8 about 6 weeks ago. I requested Shadow Mica, Nav, XREAS, air suspension, etc. Dealer told me it would have to be "ordered" from the factory in Japan. I called the dealer this past week to inquire on status/progress and he said he had no info yet...could be a couple more months.

I know that there already has been a debate on whether you can "order" a 4Runner vs. locating one or requesting one. That's not my issue. I recall a couple of other folks went through the same issue with the same configurations. For those that did, have you received your 4Runner yet? If so, about how long did you have to wait?

I have a 1996 4Runner SR5 that I waited 3 months for when I bought it new. Just trying to determine if it will be the same wait.

Thanks...

Wait seems to be fairly normal according to what others have posted. Unless you luck out and your dealer happens to locate one on a boat that is already on its way over like mine did.

It seems normal to me. I think 2006 fully loaded Limiteds are very hard to come by. I know there are only around 5 being shipped to the entire Northeast region. In addition, Shadow is a not a common color so they will probably have to built one for you. If they have to build it from scratch, the average wait time is 90 days.

I've got a special order on a Limited V6 with nav, moonroof, side/curtain airbags and spoiler, no tow hitch. All I wanted was a configuration that was a Limited V6 with nav and side/curtain airbags (preferred spoiler and moonroof, hitch didn't matter--easy to add aftermarket, cheaper too). The mentioned configuration or package I spotted in September using my zip code. This configuration disappeared in October and came back in November. In October, I asked my rep locate that configuration. (I figure if I order my configuration similar to a package that is listed in my zip, I may get the truck sooner.) No dealer had it in the US. So he made changes on the program that they use to view their allocations on 11/15. On 12/19, he got word that Toyota accepted the changes. No word on when my order will actually arrive though.

However, between the first time (Sept) that I configured a Limited V6 with nav and now, the packages has changed quite a bit. It went from the one I ordered (nav, moonroof, side/curtain airbags, spoiler), plus tow hitch. Then (late Oct, early Nov) I've seen another one like the previous package, with a third row and another one with rear seat entertainment. Just a few days ago, I've seen it similar to my configuration with (1) hitch, (2) hitch and X-REAS, (3) without nav (JBL 10 speaker instead), (4) without nav (JBL 10 speaker) and rear seat entertainment. Also, SE V6's only came in one package in my region: moonroof, spoiler, side/curtain airbags and tow hitch. But now they show a second package ($6975) which includes: 115v AC power point, anti-theft alarm system, nav, side/curtain airbags, Homelink, compass/electrochromatic rear view mirror, moonroof, rear DVD entertainment, spoiler and tow hitch. Sticker comes about $2k less than similarly equipped Limited without X-REAS. This package on the SE V6 is making me rethink my special order, all I'm losing is bigger wheels, leather, memory seats along with some other Limited features.

I was planning on getting a SE V6 in 2005, but none came with JBL sound in my area. I was willing to forgo nav, but now that it has Bluetooth and I'm not willing to go without nav.

Good luck and I hope this may give you some insight on the quest in getting the exact 4R.
